The Canberra Cook: March 2011
http://thecanberracook.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Cooking, eating, shopping and otherwise living in Canberra. Thursday, 31 March 2011. We didn't actually stop for lunch or arvo tea, since we'd just had a big brunch in Sydney. But having checked the place out and enjoyed their produce, I hope to make it a destination sometime. Links to this post. Sunday, 27 March 2011. Now have a closer look at your bowlful of stuff. Will it fit into your shallow casserole dish or pie plate for baking? Links to this post. Saturday, 19 March 2011. Here's a sample from tod...

I'm in a good place career-wise right now. After over a year working under completely robotic, non-lateral thinking management, whose take on work-life balance was that life = work, these few months in my new job have been a breath of fresh air. It has made me feel quite human again. There's an understanding boss, friendly people, mutual professional respect and recognition that life is what most people do outside of work. Colleagues trying to get one up on you, or blatant misogynism. Okay I'll stop now.

One of the nice things about Canberra (I feel I have to add a positive post in here somewhere! Is how central it is to a lot of the local area. For lunch we ended up visiting The Roses Cafe, 10 Montague Street, Goulburn. One test down, one to go. Man I hate the sight of blood, especially my own. "Oh it's taking a while to come out" she said, and I looked away as she pumped at my arm. Well the next test is potentially more horrible but I am trying not to think about that, right? I am a city girl who moved...

jessincanberra: Bread adventures
http://jess101things.blogspot.com/2010/03/bread-adventures.html
Let me explain first by saying that my job is completely non-creative. I enjoy what I do but there's a strict set of procedures/policy to be adhered to, authorities and signatures and templates and forms that must be learned and embraced. I am longing to take up art classes again but as have just started my second-last subject (yes that's right- woo hoo! There's no time for it at the moment. So cooking or at the moment baking, is my creative outlet. Http:/ www.io.com/ sjohn/sour.htm. View my complete pro...

Forever Young: beginning, no end… | glass central canberra
https://glasscentralcanberra.wordpress.com/2010/11/19/forever-young-beginning-no-end
A renegade site for today’s thinking studio glass artist. Forever Young: beginning, no end…. 8230;opened at the BVRG last Friday night, and what a sweet exhibition it is. Here’s some of the official blurb…. Forever Young: beginning, no end. Is an exhibition that celebrates the longevity of artistic spirit, from the nascent stirrings of youth to the full-blown flush of octogenarian practice. In contrast, Tom Bosman (who was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Australia in 1958) has a practice that r...

Thoughts and Snorts: Ack!!
http://acatcan.blogspot.com/2012/08/ack.html
Monday, August 6, 2012. Mad rush this morning to get going. Finally we charge out the door on the exact dot of leaving o'clock and make our windy way to the bus stop. Half way there and what do I spy coming towards us, not the right way at all, and turning at the corner juuuust too far away? Yep, our bus. M dropped his chair into 2nd, revved up the engine and charged towards it, waving wildly. I attempted to break into a jog, break being the operative word. This is what we saw:. Saturday, November 29, 2008. Living in interesting times. We've both been terribly tired lately. Maybe a touch of a virus? Whom nose. But M developed a koff, which turned into pneumonia and he has been hospital overnight, having intravenous antibiotic to quell the bacteria of deth. He's home now, still koffing but feeling better. I, otoh, am still buggered. It seems to be terminal. Links to this post. Labels: Chanel No 5. Sunday, November 23, 2008. What I did after the pill worked. Cleaned wax, crud, old...

Monday, March 30, 2009. We can hear him squikking at the door, wanting more food, demanding access to the bed. I heard him quite distinctly earlier this evening, saying 'you call that DINNER? I ate my dinner on a tray on my lap, unmonstered by a large purring black bucket attempting to nick all the best bits for hisself. All my little prickly-paw spots have healed up. Links to this post. Friday, March 27, 2009. Au revoir old friend. Tomorrow a few members of family and close friends are gathering for a s...

I'm also really itching to leave Canberra. I love this city and it's been a wonderful five years, but I'm really really ready to move on. I miss the big lights - the food, the shopping, the action, the buzz, the culture. I miss my family and friends that I've known for way longer than 5 years. The Bread Tales: My progress so far. My First Attempt at Bread-Making was with the now infamous NY Times No Knead Bread Recipe:. Http:/ www.nytimes.com/2006/11/08/dining/081mrex.html. Attempt No. Two= Disaster.
