Books, Books, Books! Trofimovsk Gulag – Historical Authentication. February 19, 2014. February 19, 2014. I was particularly interested in the setting of the Trofimovsk prison camp (or Gulag) from the the book. Between Shades of Gray. Towards the end of the book, Lina and her family get removed the labor camp in the Altai region of the U.S.S.R. to Trofimovsk, above the Arctic Circle. I was wondering, was that a real place? What was there before the prisoners arrived? Between Shades of Gray,. 8220;They too...

Laura's Big Adventures: San Fransisco/Berkeley - Final day!

http://lauraeley.blogspot.com/2015/03/san-fransiscoberkeley-final-day.html

Now is the time to start something new". March 12, 2015. San Fransisco/Berkeley - Final day! More sightseeing happened on Monday! Dana, Henry, and I went into a different part of San Fransisco and saw more interesting sights! We went to Golden Gate Park, which, interestingly enough, is not by the Golden Gate Bridge. We walked around inside the park, and visited the Japanese Tea Garden. It was peaceful and lovely. Also a bit expensive. But mostly lovely. Me, Dana, and Henry at the Japanese Tea Garden.

Laura's Big Adventures: November 2013

http://lauraeley.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Now is the time to start something new". November 23, 2013. I finally have a cat! Since I could write, I've been putting on my Christmas list, "CAT" and never got one. My dad always said I could have a cat when I have my own place. Since 'having my own place' has been a difficult condition for me to meet for the last few decades, I have not gotten a cat. But the stars aligned, and I am now cat-sitting for the next two years! By the way, she is a polydactl cat, like Hemingway. Posted by Laura Eley.

We started off at Fisherman's Wharf, where we got tasty heart-shaped sourdough rolls. Palace of Fine Arts.

Laura's Big Adventures: Graduation Weekend

http://lauraeley.blogspot.com/2015/05/graduation-weekend.html

Now is the time to start something new". May 22, 2015. I was lucky enough to have Mom, Dad, and Brian come down for graduation weekend May 14-17. We spent a lot of time packing my apartment up, but we also had time to do some fun stuff. We spent an afternoon at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, which is always a favorite of mine. It was Brian's first time there, and I think he had fun. The gorgeous mountain lion spent a lot of time looking out the window at us. Brian is a turtle wrangler!

Now is the time to start something new". April 13, 2014. Perhaps you recall, or maybe you never knew, that early last summer I bought a little Honda scooter when my Honda Civic that I had owned for 12 years passed away. (I can say a car passed away if I want to.) Here is a picture of me on the day I bought that scooter. One day, not long after returning from Christmas break, I got hit by a car! That tow truck is coming to bolt-cut my chain and tow away my scooter! What incredibly fortuitous timing! I don...

http://lauraeley.blogspot.com/2015/03/san-fransiscoberkely-continued.html

Now is the time to start something new". March 12, 2015. Dana and I spent Sunday exploring a bit closer to home. Her neighborhood is basically built into the side of the mountain. We walked down the hill to the Claremont Hotel, a fancy club/hotel in Berkely. Then, we walked back up. Then we were exhausted. Beautiful eucalyptus grove behind the Claremont. After lunch we went to the Redwood Regional Park. It was amazing! Posted by Laura Eley. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Chippewa Falls, WI.
