Old Wrench: November 2008
http://mvwcnews.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Maintained by the editor of the Missouri Valley Wrench Club Newsletter, as another window into the old wrench collecting hobby. Sunday, November 30, 2008. I spent a quarter hour paging through a binder full of FORD/FERGUSON operator and parts manuals a few weeks ago. I was looking for one detail which I did not find. If I had found it, I would have been able to turn speculation into fact. The bound newsletter sets are one-of-a-kind as I constructed those bindings myself. The validity of these volumes...

Saw restoration my life and times. Skip to primary content. The best screw wins. March 24, 2014. Once again I’ll start by saying sorry for the long holiday in the blog. The job searching is slow going and working full time in the shop doesn’t leave as much time at the end of the day for collecting my thoughts. On the upside, I’ve enjoyed some projects like adding cruise control and a spline lube to my K75 motorcycle. Or the Directory of American Tool and Machinery Patents. I’ll do my best not to plag...

Tooling Around the Matheson History Museum. The Tison Tool Barn houses several two-foot long (and one three-foot long) folding rulers. All of those rulers are four-fold. Unlike the one-foot folding rulers described in the previous post, none of the two-foot folding rulers have calipers. Some of the rulers described in this post do have other tools combined with them. Marking Gauges: Part I - Tooling Around the Matheson History Museum

Tooling Around the Matheson History Museum. Marking Gauges: Part I. A further note about monkey wrenches: Last week I was made aware of a blog entry on the etymology of "monkey wrench" which appeared after I started my series of blog entries on monkey wrenches in the Tison Tool Barn on September 2, 2015. "Charles Monk, Monkey Wrenches and a 'Monkey on a Stick' - a Gripping History and Etymology of 'Monkey Wrench'". And now a look at marking gauges in the Tison Tool Barn. Mortise gauge is a marking gauge ...
