A Tale of Two Cities: Russian Palaces
http://debikirksey.blogspot.com/2010/06/russian-palaces.html
A Tale of Two Cities. It was the best of times. Monday, June 14, 2010. Outside the city of St. Petersburg lie numerous palaces which have served throughout history as the get-away, or summer palaces of the tsars. Such is the case of Catherine's Palace, named after Catherine I, but really shaped by Empress Elizabeth and later by Catherine the Great. Built in a lavish rococo style with elaborate gilding throughout, the interiors are exceptional. Every room is like a wedding cake. The interesting thing is t...

http://debikirksey.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
A Tale of Two Cities. It was the best of times. Thursday, March 28, 2013. While visiting Malta, we took the ferry one day to the neighboring island of Gozo to experience a different slice of island life. Even though there were severe wind warnings that day, we continued with our plans amidst drizzle, wind and grey skies (after taking a little motion sickness tablet for the ferry ride, just to be on the safe side! Once in the bay, the views and water were amazing. Coral and beautiful seascapes. Where they...

A Tale of Two Cities. It was the best of times. Monday, April 29, 2013. And on to Lacock. Upon leaving the picturesque village of Castle Combe, our group headed to the sweet town of Lacock,. Another timeless and traditional English village,. First founded in 1232 and with most houses built in the 18th century or much earlier. Almost untouched in the last few centuries,. The village has been the backdrop for many movies and period dramas,. Including Pride and Prejudice, Cranford, Emma,. After a prolonged ...

http://debikirksey.blogspot.com/2013/07/happy-birthday-america.html
A Tale of Two Cities. It was the best of times. Thursday, July 4, 2013. Our neighborhood had its Fourth of July parade early this morning, and Little Miss Sunshine came over. To wave to the crowds in her Poppy's '56 T Bird. The dogs came out for the fun. As so did the kids,. When they heard there was a promise of ice cream at the end of the parade. Back home at the house, there were watermelon treats,. Red and juicy,. Putting smiles on faces. Of course, there was some grillin'. By father and son. Hi, Rea...
A Tale of Two Cities: Madame à Paris
http://debikirksey.blogspot.com/2013/08/madame-paris.html
A Tale of Two Cities. It was the best of times. Saturday, August 3, 2013. Yes, Madame est à Paris once again, as our stay in London wound down to an end. Just a quick train trip over on the Eurostar, and we're in central Paris, ready to stroll. Thought I'd just share a few postcards from our visit. Strolling through Montmartre watching the artists in the shadows of Sacré Coeur. Taking a sniff of the beautiful flowers displayed so beautifully on the pavement. Shopping at Galéries Lafayette for Guerlain.

Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Birthday Fun – The Arboretum! Since we’ve lived in the Dallas area, it has become a little bit of a tradition with my family to do some kind of event for my birthday involving some sort of Dallas cultural attraction…so fun! Sunday, June 13, 2010. Catching Up – Caribbean Cruise. Although it kinda seems like a distant memory now, Tyson and I went on a 5 night Caribbean cruise just after Camryn’s first birthday in February. Oh man, was it fun! Both sets of grandparents made sure that Camryn was taken care of while we were gone, and they did a great job! We sure missed our girl, but we had a great time together celebrating the fact that we made it through our first year of parenting! 1 – Embarkation:. Day 2 – Sea Day:. I had ho...
