Our Diabetic Life: I know it's hard.
http://www.ourdiabeticlife.com/2015/01/i-know-its-hard.html
Saturday, January 24, 2015. I know it's hard. I want you to know: I know it’s hard. When you’re on the other side it’s convenient to forget all the heartache. There is power in the success of just getting through, and we feed on that power. We feed on the triumphant-cy of surviving the childhood years with diabetes. Like childbirth, the pain isn’t remembered, but the rewards are. Last week I took some time to look back. I started with blog-post one and moved forward to the present day. And you can’t.

Mothering a daughter with type 1 diabetes and sensory processing disorder. Posted by Heather Garcia Queen. I’ve been selfish lately, and I’m feeling guilty about it. About a month ago, we dove into the deep end, entering the world of continuous glucose monitoring. It took some time to shuffle paperwork and process the order, but everything was approved and we started live about three weeks ago. This technology to better manage T1D. I took the choice away from her, and made it my own. Body It’s my. I thin...

Vodka, Valium and Duct Tape. A busy mom's survival guide. For some time now friends have been suggesting to me that I should write a blog, to which I respond, Uhhhhhh. Honestly, I’m not exactly sure what a blog is. I don’t really follow any blogs. I’ve visited a few here and there, but nothing on a regular basis. Doesn’t a blog involve, well, blogging? Isn’t there some sort of expectation of regular posts? What would I say? What if I’m not feeling particularly witty? My son is diabetic, and I like to edu...

At one point in my life I was a 5th grade teacher. I really enjoyed being a teacher, and would absolutely love to do it again, but for now I have chosen to stay home and be available to my kids for things like, “I’m out of chap stick, can you put some in my locker? 8221; I live for that shit.*. Editor’s note: No, I don’t. 8220;Tell me more,...

Livin' La Vida LADA: May 2009
http://lilipond.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Livin' La Vida LADA. Monday, May 18, 2009. You can tell a lot about how much someone knows about diabetes by telling them your average bg - when they ask, not just for fun. My average for one week was 110. Anyway, here were the responses I got:. Optometrist: I guess that's okay. Oral surgeon: Wow, really? How do you do it? Internal medicine doctor: [No response because there was nothing about it for us to discuss]. Dental hygienist: Well, that's not *that* bad. You should really be careful, though.

Livin' La Vida LADA. Monday, July 25, 2011. I feel like I gave the Ping a good try, wearing it for almost a year. In the end, though, it just wasn't for me. Oh, I love the technology, the color, the precision. After switching to the Ping my average TDD dropped from 29U to 17U. It really did seem to make a difference. Friday, July 15, 2011. It's time for my annual blog post! Er, that was a joke. I had a great time at the Children With Diabetes Friends for Life 2011. One highlight was seeing Crystal Bowers...

Livin' La Vida LADA. Friday, May 18, 2012. What They Should Know. That it's never appropriate to tell everyone with diabetes that they will eventually get retinopathy simply because they have diabetes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Shoot Up o...
