https://gfbrandenburg.wordpress.com/2015/08/04/on-school-deforms-in-louisiana
Just a blog by a guy who's a retired math teacher. On School DEforms in Louisiana. 8220;Crazy Crawfish” is running for school board in Louisiana. He has a long and useful article on how effective (or not) the DEforms have been that were instituted by the billionaires and their ex-TFA minions there, especially after firing all seven thousand New Orleans public school teachers after Hurricane Katrina. The answer, if you look at NAEP, is none. He also has a number of proposals on that which ought to be done.

I attended edcampSFBay, hosted at Skyline High School (where I work) this past weekend.

Just a blog by a guy who's a retired math teacher. Disaster Capitalism, Greek Style (with a nod to Naomi Klein). Disaster capitalism, Greek style. Under the terms forced on Greece just now, by the ‘troika’, all small Greek businesses need to pay all their taxes for the entire year, in advance, before they’ve earned any money at all. But foreigners living there can send out any funds they like, tax free– according to noted economist Joseph Stiglitz in the NYT. The European Central Bank. Let me also point ...

A group blog from Accomplished California Teachers: Classroom expertise for better education policy. August 31, 2014. David B. Cohen. At a San Francisco rally, Feb. 2011. My social media streams are full of reminders about the importance of unions, in the past, present and future. And I agree completely. But it’s not enough to just say we support workers. Larry Cuban has another great post here! Larry Cuban on School Reform and Classroom Practice. Reformers fighting among themselves, of course, is hardly new. Writing about the future of learning and teaching in America's public schools. Thursday, October 21, 2010. NYC Forgoes following the LA Times in Publishing Value-added Rankings of Teachers. Today, the NYC public schools said they would not give value-added data and teacher rankings to several media outlets. I am glad they chose not to. 8220;Believe” is a really good word to use. Folks seem to believe in the value-added model because the rhetoric feels so gosh darn solid. 8220;The promise that value-added...
