Thursday, November 1, 2012. I once heard it said that when compared with the U.S. people in South Asia act like cars, and cars act like people. For a long time, I wasn't exactly sure what that meant. Until recently. Pedestrians here act like they own the road, much like a car would in the U.S. When someone crosses a street, they do so wherever they want, whenever they want, and at whatever speed they want. Thursday, October 18, 2012. Sienna just celebrated her first birthday. In South Asia, it is customary to shave a baby's head at one year, so that the baby's hair will be nice and thick as he/she grows older. South Asians tend to have dark, thick, and very beautiful hair! Several people asked me about this. "Will you shave Sienna's hair when she turns 1? Washing it with shampoo. People here don't commonly use conditioner as far as I can tell because I often have a difficult time finding it!
