A Fishermans Journey: Smooth operator
http://fishermans-journey.blogspot.com/2015/06/smooth-operator.html
Saturday, 13 June 2015. Nothing else was forthcoming in that swim but I decided to fish a little more persistently and a couple of spots later I was rewarded with a nice perch which absolutely smashed my tiny pink shad. It looked well worthy of some challenge points anyway although it was some way short of the hoped for 2lb. After that I moved onto the lake where I managed to pimp out a few micro-perch on the dropshot before heading home. Dave, Andy and Lee all stepped onto the scoresheet next with simil...

A Fishermans Journey: June 2015
http://fishermans-journey.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Friday, 26 June 2015. Back to some proper fishing - part 3. No more fish looked at the frog in that swim but a change of lure told me I'd found a group of half decent fish because I quickly hooked and landed another one which went 2lb12oz on the scales, a long fish with considerable winter potential I feel. Several more smaller perch to around a pound followed as I worked my way down the field and before long it was time to head to the deeper area. Back to some proper fishing - part 2. The next evening I...

A Fishermans Journey: Pitsford Predators
http://fishermans-journey.blogspot.com/2015/05/pitsford-predators.html
Sunday, 24 May 2015. Following on from last years successful trip to Rutland water, the lads from the same Facebook group decided to organise a similar session on Pitsford water. The venue was to open it's doors early to predator anglers this year so we decided to book some boats there on opening day. The wind had really put a good chop on the water and we were motoring directly into it, waves crashed over the bow of the boat and we got soaked, the sun might've been out but it certainly wasn't overly warm.

A Fishermans Journey: September 2014
http://fishermans-journey.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, 29 September 2014. Since catching my Barbel PB earlier this season something slightly odd seems to have happened to my fishing. I can't quite put my finger on it but It's not the fishing itself that's changed it's more like my attitude and approach to it which has altered slightly I feel. It's almost as if that Barbel was a catalyst or a switch which has allowed me to pass through to a new chapter in my angling journey. As packup time fast approached I went next door to phils peg to discuss when ...

A Fishermans Journey: December 2014
http://fishermans-journey.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 24 December 2014. Last one of 2014. I've been all too aware that my posts have been most infrequent of late and I've decided that I really must try harder in 2015. As usual , life has gotten in the way and my blog has really been overlooked this year as is obvious from looking at my annual post count compared to previous years. So what have I been up to since my last update? The bottom of that lake must be carpeted with Perch in much the same way that Rutland is heaving with Zander! It got col...

A Fishermans Journey: April 2015
http://fishermans-journey.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, 19 April 2015. On the carp front things have been exceptionally slow, in fact as I write, a month into the closed season my tally stands at just a couple of fish to mid-double figures. It's not for lack of trying though and although they've started to show on my regular water they've proven incredibly hard to tempt. Some Other anglers have reported catching one or two but the vast majority, myself included, are going home with dry nets which is most frustrating! I don't know what's going on with ...

A Fishermans Journey: May 2015
http://fishermans-journey.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Monday, 25 May 2015. LRF - I could get into this! May bank holiday came around and some friends had invited me and my better half to a wedding in Cornwall. The idea was to drop the kids off at the in-laws in Torquay, stop the night and then drive on into Cornwall to a b&b near port Isaac, with all that sea around it would've been rude not to take a rod along! I did a bit of research on the internet with regards to lures, tackle and suitable venues and soon enough something like a plan was formulated....
