The Castle Wheelers End2End. Monday, 18 July 2011. Day 10 Paisley to Glencoe. The hotel was serving carvery last night, so with the exception of the vegetarians we all tucked into the best meals we had eaten on the whole trip (after Omar’s of course! The hotel was quite an old building and because of that, a lot of the doorways and ceilings were very low. I’m 6 ft. 3in and I couldn’t even stand upright in the shower! In fact, this was the only safe way I could have a wash! Operator, Taxi to Dudley please!

The Castle Wheelers End2End. Wednesday, 13 July 2011. For some unfathomable reason, everyone was more or less awake at half five this morning. I was not impressed. We didn't leave until after 8, so such an early start was quite unnecessary. As you may have guessed, I'm not a morning person! After Carey and Jamie had done a splendid job with erecting the tents the previous day, we left them to take them down for us too! We're not going to turn that down! The Castle Wheelers End2End. Sunday, 17 July 2011. Day 8 Hawkshead to Lockerbie. Yet another early start this morning, but it was worth it as Tris’ mum had made us bacon sandwiches! They were delicious, cheers Karen! That’s right, a poncho. He thought he looked cool, but once the wind got underneath it, he looked more like a jellyfish! The worst downpour of the day hit us just after Gretna. The rain was so heavy that I had the windscreen wipers on the fastest setting and I still couldn’t see! It WAS deli...

The Castle Wheelers End2End. Tuesday, 12 July 2011. Everyone was up and getting themselves sorted by half 6 this morning and by 820 we were under way. Matt, the local copper who sorted last nights digs joined the boys for the first 25 miles. He claimed not to be an accomplished cyclist but he took no time at all in blowing our boys away. Mind you he did have fresh legs! Once across the bridge and into Wales, we stopped at Tintern Abbey. (well we think that bit was Wales! Bevs husband-Mac, and Daves wife ...

The Castle Wheelers End2End. Sunday, 17 July 2011. Day 9 Lockerbie to Paisley. Well, we are all alive after Omar’s cooking! We have to say that we were all very shocked at his masterpiece! After dinner, we got the stations over-head projector working and everyone settled down to watch a DVD. I couldn’t tell you what the film it was, as I was asleep before the opening credits! As you can see, the firemen had no call outs last night! Not helped with everyones spirits. Tempers are a lot shorter and a fe...

The Castle Wheelers End2End. Monday, 11 July 2011. He stumbled to get the words 'ill start work on your van in 20 minutes' out of his mouth, before scurrying away! Heaven knows what he thought we were up to! By 8 am the bus had its wheels off and the parts had been ordered. They had to come from Exeter, some 80 miles away, but we didn't care, we were making progress. The wheels on the bus go round and round! They were so pleased to see us! Omar and I had our first hot meal of the day before we sorted the...
