Situation – Thanking a librarian | It's Elementary!
https://eci831jamie.wordpress.com/2011/01/28/situation-thanking-a-librarian
Situation – Thanking a librarian January 28, 2011. Filed under: Myself as curriculum maker. 8212; Jamie @ 7:17 am. This week for my class, we were asked to write of a situation from our early schooling experience. This came to me immediately:. Finally, after watching this situation for a couple of months, I guess my librarian couldn’t handle it anymore. She finally asked me to be a library helper during the morning recess each day. I was ecstatic to help! January 28, 2011 at 7:28 am. I agree with you!

The Year I Learned There Are More Important Things Than School. February 7, 2011. Filed under: Class reflections. Myself as curriculum maker. 8212; Jamie @ 11:01 am. I had never even been exposed to poverty. I was a starry-eyed 22-year-old young woman wearing rose-coloured classes starting her internship in a high school in northern Saskatchewan. It was that year that I learned, for the first time, that there are some things more important than school. Situation – Thanking a librarian. January 28, 2011.

Teacher Appreciation Week – So Far February 16, 2011. Filed under: Opinion pieces. 8212; Jamie @ 7:13 am. We have had only two days of Teacher Appreciation so far, but I feel so blessed. Then yesterday, my principal knocked at my door about 15 minutes before lunch. She had me pick an apple out of a basket and told me to take a little extra prep and to come back just before the bell. Now, you might say that 15 minutes isn’t much, but I still appreciated it! I came back to my room and this is what I saw:.
What’s the point? | It's Elementary!

March 26, 2011. Filed under: Class reflections. 8212; Jamie @ 11:53 am. I’m sure that we’ve all finished a day in the classroom, sat in our chair, and asked ourselves “What’s the point? Why do I do this job? I look at this question now not in the defeated way mentioned at the beginning of this blog post, but in an objective, overall purpose way: What is the goal of education and teaching? What do we want to accomplish? In pondering this question, I read Nel Noddings’ 2005 article. I KNOW that education a...

Zenodotus: Capture the flag
http://zenodotus.net/2014/01/capture-flag.html
Saturday, January 4, 2014. So, just before the holiday break, I received a help desk request concerning a certain website freezing the entire PC and only within the Chrome browser . Odd, indeed. And during my research I was introduced to the power of chrome flags! See I told you! But in all seriousness, after playing around a bit and enabling or should I saw disabling GPU compositing on all pages. Seemed to take care of the freezing issue when that special site was visited. You are now able to browse the...

Wednesday, March 5, 2014. However, I open every session talking about this blog and how I write about tools. I will say that I have started getting away from the tools in favor of focusing on learning outcome. But anyone in my "Taking the Tech Out of Technology Integration" sessions this past year knows that to successfully infuse tech you need to have a knowledge and foundation of what is available. Get to the tool already? And one I just discovered today draw.io. If I'm being honest, Lucidchart. If you...

Another semester over, another grad class under my belt. Only 3 classes left to complete my program. What am I going to do with all that spare time? I have a few ideas…. 1 Read all those books I felt too guilty to read because they weren’t related to research for my courses. 2 Work on my photography. Maybe I will do a 365 day photo challenge. 3 Plan my trip to Italy (August 2011! 4 Continue to expand the Resource Centre I created for my final ECI 831 project. 2 thoughts on “ Now What? Thursday, September 26, 2013. I'm trying out something I stumbled across recently on the Twitter Developer's board. And I will let you know how it goes. What is that something you ask? You can create an RSS feed of a Twitter account using a service like Feed 43 - http:/ feed43.com/. It's a bit crude but it seems to work, it will just scrape your Twitter page for updates. It's fairly straight forward. Add the URL of your Twitter account, then the bits you need to know are:. Posted by James Gubbins. The Un...

LYANE`S DIGITAL JOURNEY | I See, I Think, I Wonder
I See, I Think, I Wonder. My major digital projects. On December 8, 2013. Posted in: Major Digital Project. Before taken this class, I had no idea all the things I could do to integrate technology into my life. I was definitely an illiterate techy but now, I am still one but a little more knowledgeable. I have learned about Mooc and started a mooc class but dropped it after 3 classes. I quickly learned that time is precious and if you are not learning anything then go on to something else. I learned how ...

ECI 833 Class Blog
ECI 833 Class Blog. Sunday, November 7, 2010. Trends in Distance Education. In some ways, reading the Moore and Kearsley chapter and the Horizon Report can seem surreal. Technological developments including Artificial Intelligence and holographs are posed as coming into common use. How will organizations evolve to deal with the rapidity of resultant educational change? How will teaching and learning evolve? Will mobile learning become a delivery method for distance education? How does learning change?
