General economics – Martin Chalkley Economics

Economic Analysis for Publicly Funded Health and Legal Care. Deck chairs, GPs and demand for health care. Who ever thought that shifting patients around an already over-stretched NHS is going to solve anything? Moving patients from A and E to GPs surgeries appears to be motivation for putting pressure on GPs to open their surgeries longer. This is actually worse than moving the deckchairs on the Titanic. Why mental health will remain the Cinderella of the NHS – Martin Chalkley Economics

Economic Analysis for Publicly Funded Health and Legal Care. Why mental health will remain the Cinderella of the NHS. Pity ‘poor’ mental health care. In the NHS in England it seems fated to consume the leftovers of other health care services. Brave words and commitments to increase spending mean little in the real world of cut-and-thrust budget allocations against increasing demand. Block contracts, reinvented under the label of capitation. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). May 15, 2016.

Larry Goldstein's Economic Policy Blog. Where would we be today without the added volumes of U.S. oil and gas? August 8, 2013. In June I put together a note that seemed so obvious that I struggled if it was even worth putting down on paper. Since then the Senate Energy committee and others have had hearing on the benefits of fracking, but they still miss the point and the Chairman is still asking the wrong question.
