edible poetry: Reluctance

http://ediblepoetry.blogspot.com/2009/06/reluctance.html

Poems so good i could eat them. Friday, June 5, 2009. Out through the fields and the woods. And over the walls I have wended;. I have climbed the hills of view. And looked at the world, and descended;. I have come by the highway home,. And lo, it is ended. The leaves are all dead on the ground,. Save those that the oak is keeping. To ravel them one by one. And let them go scraping and creeping. Out over the crusted snow,. When others are sleeping. And the dead leaves lie huddled and still,. I really do w...

Poems so good i could eat them. Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Trying to protect his students' innocence. He told them the Ice Age was really just. The Chilly Age, a period of a million years. When everyone had to wear sweaters. And the Stone Age became the Gravel Age,. Named after the long driveways of the time. The Spanish Inquisition was nothing more. Than an outbreak of questions such as. How far is it from here to Madrid? What do you call the matador's hat? The War of the Roses took place in a garden,.

http://ediblepoetry.blogspot.com/2009/12/rhapsody-on-windy-night.html

Poems so good i could eat them. Monday, December 7, 2009. Rhapsody on a Windy Night. Along the reaches of the street. Held in a lunar synthesis,. Dissolve the floors of memory. And all its clear relations,. Its divisions and precisions,. Every street lamp that I pass. Beats like a fatalistic drum,. And through the spaces of the dark. Midnight shakes the memory. As a madman shakes a dead geranium. The street lamp sputtered,. The street lamp muttered,. The street lamp said, "Regard that woman. The lamp spu...

Poems so good i could eat them. Tuesday, July 31, 2007. In My Craft or Sullen Art. In my craft or sullen art. Exercised in the still night. When only the moon rages. And the lovers lie abed. With all their griefs in their arms,. I labour by singing light. Not for ambition or bread. Or the strut and trade of charms. On the ivory stages. But for the common wages. Of their most secret heart. Not for the proud man apart. From the raging moon I write. On these spindrift pages. Nor for the towering dead. A pag...
