Rooms & Rates. Late Winter Fishing on the Rio San Antonio. On March 11, 2014 No Comments. As afternoon came, I had caught (and released) 7 nice pan-sized fish in a quarter mile stretch of the river right in front of the Elk Mountain Lodge. It was also good to see that some of the normal spring flies were beginning to emerge along the banks. By the end of my outing, the temperature had reached about 60F and I actually had signs of a light sunburn! This entry was posted in Local Stories and History.

As of 3:00 pm Sunday, June 14th, the Diego Fire had grown to 200 acres. The fire was lightning caused and was first detected earlier last week. No structures are threatened and the fire remains on Federal lands. The closest private lands are approximately one mile from the fire. It is burning primarily dead fuels.

Redondo Campground is perhaps my favorite campground in the Jemez. Even though it has sixty sites available, they seem isolated, with towering ponderosa pine providing shade and intoxicating smells of the forest.
