There's Always Money in the Banana Stand

There's Always Money in the Banana Stand. Monday, May 12, 2014. The More You Know. Today seemed like a good day to highlight something that's been on my heart for quite a while. Mother's Day was yesterday, and it's time of celebrations and warm fuzzies. But it's a tough day for many women, for a myriad of reasons. One of those reasons is infertility. In happier news, only four more weeks left of school! I am so ready for you. Sunday, September 8, 2013. Hated that bathroom. It was the one space in our...

There's Always Money in the Banana Stand: December 2009

http://erinvoss.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

There's Always Money in the Banana Stand. Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Brendan and I celebrate two years of marriage today. Two years seems so short, but I feel as if we've always been married, always been together. Our one-year anniversary couldn't come soon enough, and we looked forward to that first relationship milestone to celebrate our marriage. Now that year two is here, I don't have that "Yes! Thursday, December 24, 2009. Sunday, December 6, 2009. Sweet, sleepy baby. How can you resists that face?

There's Always Money in the Banana Stand: Summertime DIY

http://erinvoss.blogspot.com/2013/08/summertime-diy.html

There's Always Money in the Banana Stand. Sunday, August 11, 2013. Another way I kept myself busy this summer was by becoming an amateur DIYer. (I use the term loosely; there are some hardcore design DIYers online who put my little projects to shame! A narrow hallway connects our kitchen, living, and dining space with the back of the house where the bedrooms are. For a long time it was a long, beige wall of nothing. Stop by later this week for more projects! I'm off to enjoy my last week of freedom.

There's Always Money in the Banana Stand: Ch-Ch-Changes

http://erinvoss.blogspot.com/2013/09/ch-ch-changes.html

There's Always Money in the Banana Stand. Sunday, September 8, 2013. September brings new beginnings. A fresh school years starts; the long, dog days of summer become shorter, and the air is replete with tiny hints of fall. For us, these new beginnings are accompanied by another big change: a bathroom remodel. (Dun dun dun! Hated that bathroom. It was the one space in our house that I was never happy with, but I always made it work. (If it had been our kitchen, I seriously would have cried! As I write th...

There's Always Money in the Banana Stand: December 2010

http://erinvoss.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

There's Always Money in the Banana Stand. Wednesday, December 29, 2010. I'm back and blogging again. I decided to take a hiatus because I began to view blogging more as an obligation rather than as a fun way to share what's going on in my life. But I'm back, and here are some things that are on my mind as I close out 2010:. 1 I'm totally in denial that Christmas break ends at the end of the week. Where have my two weeks gone? I was experiencing Dexter. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Work in Progress: June 2014

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, June 25, 2014. It's very hard to believe half a year has passed. I still feel like I should have a newborn (but I'm very glad I don't! I have loved getting to know our little boy, and I'm looking forward to seeing his personality emerge more and more. It was a lot harder to get a decent picture this month because he kept wanting to eat the chalkboard and blanket. Firsts" from This Month. Jonas, Me, and Hannah with my dad. Darby, Jonas, and Darby's dad. First trip to Auntie Hannie's apartment/F...

Work in Progress: May 2014

Thursday, May 29, 2014. I can't seem to keep up with posting the books I've read on a monthly basis, so perhaps I'll just do it quarterly or so and only include the ones I really liked. By Christina Baker Kline. Another book club book. This novel alternates. Illuminations: A Novel of Hildegard von Bingen. Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking. Tender at the Bone. Ruth Reichl was the food critic for the New York Times. Sunday, May 25, 2014. Firsts" from This Month. He didn't re...

Work in Progress: March 2015

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Jonas - 15 Months. Now that Jonas has passed the one-year mark, I'm no longer writing monthly posts about his milestones. But, I still do want to post fairly regularly so I can remember what he was like at each age. Boy can pitch a fit. He did not want to take a cute Valentine's picture. His beloved Thomas the Tank Engine ball. He loves this book that G-ma and Papa got him for Valentine's Day. When he sees the page with all of the fruits, he begs for berries. An outtake from hi...

Work in Progress: January 2015

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 05, 2015. I know everyone says this, but this year really has flown by! I can't believe we have a one-year-old. I got a bit sentimental thinking about leaving the baby days behind, but mostly I'm really enjoying this new phase. He's so much more fun to play with now. And since he's totally weaned now (hallelujah! First Thanksgiving. We had a lovely time with both of our families together for the big meal. Jonas, of course, enjoyed all the food, especially the sweet potatoes. I'm a displac...

Work in Progress: July 2014

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 20, 2014. Jonas is definitely beginning to make his desires known. He's still a fairly laid-back baby overall, but he has serious grumpy moments. Still, I'd say this is the parenting sweet spot. I know what I'm doing somewhat, we're in a good routine, and Jonas is learning new skills every day. I told Darby that if I could be given children when they were 6 months old, I'd have 10! Firsts" from This Month. Aunt Leila and Uncle Matt. Jonas loves spending time with them. He is really experimen...

His play kitchen, mama and baby hippo Beanie babies, sidewalk chalk. Work in Progress: April 2014

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 27, 2014. This stage with Jonas is really fun. He's responding to us with smiles and giggles a lot more. He's started noticing other babies at church and play group. He's still pretty serious, but he doesn't look quite so skeptical all the time. Firsts" from this Month. First time to roll over front to back. First time to meet his Aunt Tere and cousin Corrie. They were in Abilene for a school event, so he and I got to run up to ACU to see them one afternoon. First bath in the big tub. I...

Work in Progress: 11 Months

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2014/12/11-months.html

Sunday, December 07, 2014. At the end of this month, Jonas made some big leaps in his development. He's now a lot more mobile and is seeming much more "toddlerish." I can't believe he'll be 1 soon. I get a little sad thinking of him leaving the baby days behind, but it's a lot of fun seeing him grow up. First Halloween. He was a lion and looked adorable. I don't think he knew what to make of his costume. Every time I put him in it, he got kind of quiet and timid. Things I Want to Remember. He likes to wa...

Tuesday, December 16, 2014. The Semester in Cookies. Now that the semester is over and I'm not teaching next semester, I'm hoping to have a bit more time to blog more than once a month! I assured her that the candy was not a substitute for the cookies. Here were some of my favorites:. These are my new favorite pumpkin cookie. They are chewy, not cake-y, like most pumpkin cookies are. And, most importantly, they didn't get soggy after a day. Peanut Butter Nutella Cookies. Sunday, December 07, 2014. At the...

The VB Family

Public vs. Private. September 3, 2012. I’ve had this ongoing struggle with school….public vs. private. For Scott there has been no struggle at all. He wants the kids to have a Christian education, and since he teaches at Westminster we get a significant discount at the Christian elementary schools, so why wouldn’t we do private? So off to Kindergarten and Pre-K they went! And my heart was full of joy, and I knew that this year was going to be better than last, because I. September 3, 2012. John: “I...

Erin vs. Fat. My ongoing journey to be the healthiest broad I can be. The best exercise is the one you do! March 29, 2014. I’ve been thinking about writing this post for a while. Food, Alcohol, Restaurants, my way! Mussels, Clams, and Shrimp with Linguine…YUMMMM. July 17, 2011. So I realized the last time I updated my blog I said I would post this recipe…and I didn’t, but luckily today I made this recipe again. There is just something about a beautiful Sunday afternoon that makes me want to eat seafood and drink white wine. So again, that’s just what I did today! What You Will Need:. 2 small white onions or shallots(you’d need probably 3-4 of these) chopped. 1/3 lb. Pre-cooke...
