Fibre Person: June 2014

http://fibreperson.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

For those who like the smell of dirty fleece. Friday, June 13, 2014. Tapestry Weaving - The Beginning. Some weaving exercises hanging out on my board. I've been playing around with weaving for quite some time and have been very drawn to tapestry weaving. I made the decision to seek out some tapestry classes so that I could learn the techniques properly and start from the beginning. A quick search led me to Ixchel Suarez. And her amazing studio. Colour gradation and basic techniques. Jill Draper Makes Stu...

Fibre Person: Two crochet techniques I need to use more...

http://fibreperson.blogspot.com/2014/04/two-crochet-techniques-i-need-to-use.html

For those who like the smell of dirty fleece. Monday, April 14, 2014. Two crochet techniques I need to use more. I love crochet - a lot. When I'm crocheting I feel cool, I can go fast and make fancy patterns and it just makes sense to me. I've been crocheting for much longer than I have been knitting. When I first started to crochet it was for sculptural purposes - elements to add to my artwork. Now, I crochet garments and still use it in my artistic practise. The Camino de Santiago. Nice post. thank...

Fibre Person: January 2014

http://fibreperson.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

For those who like the smell of dirty fleece. Wednesday, January 22, 2014. It's been awhile. the Holidays are over and Winter has set in and it's very, very cold! To keep from freezing and get me out of (my new! Studio, I've been trying out some different activities. I have taken up Tap Dancing, which I'm finding just a joyful way to get the blood flowing. I've also been going to a weekly Ukulele sing and play time, it's great! I'm learning a lot and having lots of fun. A cozy place to sit and spin.

BiRDEYE Handmade: August 2012

http://birdeyehandmade.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 13, 2012. Something has been eating my tomatoes. I can only speculate who or what could be eating them but I will let you be the judge. After several days of rain I was finally able to go out and harvest the tomatoes and to my shock and horror this is what I found. As you can see the culprit has rather large teeth. The creature is somewhat of a tomato connoisseur selecting only the ripest fruits. This tomato obviously did not pass quality control. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). BiRDEYE Handma...

For me cooking and gardening go hand and hand. Living in Canada definitely limits the gardening season, however when summer comes, it's on!

Friday, June 29, 2012. I've had a pasta maker for quite some time now but have been putting off learning how to make pasta. A friend of mine was visiting who had made it before with some Italian friends so we all joined forces and gave it a whirl. I was in charge of making the pasta dough and the boys took care of rolling out the dough and cutting it. Here's what we did. 500 g of soft wheat flour. I used ground semolina durum wheat flour). 5 eggs, at room temperature. Adjusting the roller position. We to...

BiRDEYE Handmade: Life in the Garden

http://birdeyehandmade.blogspot.com/2012/06/life-in-garden.html

Friday, June 29, 2012. Life in the Garden. One of my favourite things to observe and photograph in the garden are the little critters that fly, crawl, and wriggle about and call the garden their home. I have learned that it takes a quick eye and a lot of patience to capture them in action. Here are some of the residents I have spotted so far. Can you spot the 2 damselflies? A beautiful white moth visiting a clover patch. A lady beetle larvae. A ladybug shedding it's outer layer. Farmer Fern and Friends.

http://birdeyehandmade.blogspot.com/2012/06/post-in-pictures.html

Friday, June 29, 2012. Let the Gardening Begin! With gardening season in full swing I have been absent from posting in quite some time (my apologies). I have been busy in the garden planting all of the beautiful vegetables and herbs that will provide me with fresh, wonderful treats later in the season. Here are a few select photos of how the garden is progressing. The garden has really taken off since these pictures were taken so I will have to take new photos soon to document the progress. I also enjoy ...

For those who like the smell of dirty fleece. Monday, May 29, 2017. Yarn Bombing at Knit Stitch. This past weekend I had a fun time facilitating a yarn bombing. Of a bike at the Knit Stitch. In London. I love that this type of activity can bring a community together and beautify! In 2010 I facilitated a yarn bombing for the Textile Museum of Canada. Got submissions from all over the world and we had several people volunteer to sew pieces together, again creating a wonderful community project. Alisa McRon...
