Carsethorn to New Abbey. 7 Miles | Scottish Coastal Walk
https://fifecoastalwalker.wordpress.com/2009/08/16/carsethorn-to-new-abbey-7-miles
8230;the adventure continues…. Carsethorn to New Abbey. 7 Miles. After yesterday’s long but enjoyable walk I wasnt in any mood to get up early and charge headlong up the road to Dumfries. So I decided to walk to New Abbey which was only about 8 miles up the road. I fortified myself with coffee and scone at the Abbey tearoom and then headed back to the start of the walk at Carsethorn. 8230;the adventure continues…. Dumfries to Ruthwell. 16 Miles. I caught the bus back to Dumfries. I was joined half way along my walk by my sister Anna and her Dutch friend Wilco who joined me for the second part of the walk. We met at Caerverlock castle. Next week will be my final two days on my walk – only 16 miles to go and I’m looking forward to friends and family coming down to walk the final few miles to Gretna with me. Love of Scotland: Kiloran Bay
http://loveofscotland.blogspot.com/2015/05/kiloran-bay.html
To convey my impressions whilst wandering about Scotland. Companion site to www.loveofscotland.com. Thursday, 21 May 2015. We're looking to go to Kiloran Bay. We haven't been yet.". Your first time on Colonsay? Yes, how do you know? If you'd been to Colonsay, you'd have been to Kiloran Bay.". The beach itself is a lovely stretch of pale yellow sand, orange when damp, and calling anyone with any aquatic bent whatsoever to go for a swim. We walked its length, lazy waves lapping the sands. The Cheviot, The ...

To convey my impressions whilst wandering about Scotland. Companion site to www.loveofscotland.com. Wednesday, 24 June 2015. Impressions of the Faroe Islands. Let's go for a drive in the Faroe Islands. The roads are well-made, and quiet. The Faroese don't fuck about - back home, what would merit a winding single track road sputtering miserably to a dead end and a long detour, has a big tunnel bored through solid rock and a twin lane road. The views speak for themselves. And the best kept secret? Now I've...
Love of Scotland: The Fantastical Faroes
http://loveofscotland.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-fantastical-faroes.html
To convey my impressions whilst wandering about Scotland. Companion site to www.loveofscotland.com. Sunday, 21 June 2015. You get used to unlikely sights in the Faroes. In an archipelago that combines the vulcanicity of Skye with the vertiginousness of St Kilda, some of the islands seem to defy reality. It starts innocently enough with Litla Dimun. Looking like Ailsa Craig's harder brother, this uninhabited grassy cone is skirted by sheer cliff. Litla Dimun from the air:. Koltur from the air:. I've been ...

To convey my impressions whilst wandering about Scotland. Companion site to www.loveofscotland.com. Sunday, 29 March 2015. Thoughts turn at this time of year to spring cycle trips. And where better than Galloway, with its quiet roads, rural charm, and coastal villages? We took the bikes from Rockcliffe to New Abbey on a glorious spring day, intending to climb Criffel and visit the ancient abbey. The streets of New Abbey:. View over the Nith from Criffel summit:. Devorgilla's sons and grandsons would play...

To convey my impressions whilst wandering about Scotland. Companion site to www.loveofscotland.com. Monday, 23 February 2015. Posted by Robert Craig. Friday, 13 February 2015. Ecosse Profonde in Newburgh. When you're visiting Scotland, where do you go? Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, Glencoe, Skye? Where you are not likely to go is the northern shore of Fife. Even the Fife Coastal Path. I don’t know about you, but I find that irresistible. It really is someone’s garden.) The other strange feature above...We aske...
