Seeking fish, wilderness and the unknown. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. I love confluences; our tributary flowing clear and cold meeting the snow-melt-grey main river. Look at the ravaged tree trunks! 5Star trying to scar up some trout from the torrent. This gives a nice picture of what the flows were like a few weeks prior; that is a boulder about 4 times as big as my head sitting over 6ft off the ground. I went subsurface all day, and got lots of fish like this, especially in one small tributary. Click pictur...

Seeking fish, wilderness and the unknown. Thursday, January 3, 2013. Pools deep and long primarily stimulated my imagination. The wading was not a cake walk. Big and fast sinking. The fish I found appeared to be simply large and healthy resident fish. This tributary produced some nice trout, but no chromers. The grass is green and spring is in the air, but the truth of drought remains in the dry soil and creeks. Danielle and I made a quick day trip to the wilderness during our honeymoon and it was reconfirmed to us that there are not many places as special as the Central Coast area of California. Monday, March 26, 2012. It has been quite awhile since the last report, and one might think that I quit an old addiction some call fly fishing. Couldn't be farther from the truth. I have been hitting the tailwaters. And mountain streams almost every weekend, with bountiful rewards dating all the way back into February. Spring came early this year, and the trout have seemed to notice. They have been out and active. I made it up to the Hiwassee. Yesterday to mess around in some familiar.

A few weekends after the Carp Throwdown (which was a blast), I found myself forfeiting the ever-frustrating corbina quest and stripping a good ol' clouser through a deep trough and nabbed this beauty. Saturday, April 11, 2015. Anyways I took off early from work on Thursday to enjoy a couple hours on the water before sundown. I thought I would do some good ole fashion, Brown Trout Hunting! I was NOT disappointed. Watching brown trout smash dry flies off the top with reckless abandon is truly a sight every fisherman should behold. I got a hold of a NICE hefty brown and managed to get him in after a long long fight. Enjoy the pics! More to come soon.until next time. Evening is the time to play.

Seeking fish, wilderness and the unknown. Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Between July 27 and August 24 the San Clemente Dam, at 94 years old, saw its end of days. This old impoundment on the Carmel River certainly fit the bill of a "deadbeat dam.". Will be interesting to see how the area changes in the years to come.
