Friday, May 23, 2014. 8220;Roll out those lazy, crazy, hazy days of summer! I’m not sure what it was about this year, but the six weeks or so between Spring Break and Summer Break seemed to take FOREVER. And, I’m not really sure why I was anticipating this summer so much, but FINALLY. Summer break has arrived! Let the late nights and lazy mornings begin! Only as my kids get older, summer seems less lazy and more crazy. My oldest.one of our favorite summer activities. I love sharing the crazy things my ki...

Torbett Tales: It's My Right!
http://torbetttales.blogspot.com/2013/03/its-my-right.html
Thursday, March 28, 2013. There's a lot of talk about "rights" these days. Human rights. Equal rights. The right to choose. The right to bear arms. And, while I could right an entire blog post for each of these issues, today's blog is not intended to be political in nature. (In fact, any comments as such will be deleted.). As I've been pondering MY rights, it occured to me that I really and truly only have one "right". You read that right - only one! But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right.

Torbett Tales: Remember when....
http://torbetttales.blogspot.com/2013/03/remember-when.html
Friday, March 22, 2013. I remember the days of old; I meditate on all You have done; I reflect on the work of Your hands. – Psalm 143:5. My memory…well, it just ain’t what it used to be. Not that I don’t remember things, I just can’t remember some things without a reminder. Maybe it’s because of a lack of order. Maybe it’s age – NAH! Maybe it’s the four kids I’ve birthed and they’ve sucked away all my brain cells. (I’m going with that one! Regardless, I just need reminders here and there. In the future, ...

Torbett Tales: For us or against us?
http://torbetttales.blogspot.com/2012/12/for-us-or-against-us.html
Saturday, December 29, 2012. For us or against us? My quiet time this morning led me to the book of Jeremiah. After reading a few key passages, I find myself.quiet still. Reflective. Sad. Judah had it good! God’s favor. His chosen people. Yet, somehow that wasn’t good enough. They began looking to other things for their fulfillment. The earth. Other people. Even making their own gods. Time and time again, God mercifully asked that the people of Judah return to Him. Time and again, Judah refused. Just rea...

Wednesday, June 12, 2013. For the people had a mind to work." - Nehemiah 4:6. Nehemiah was on a roll. Not only had he worked up the courage to ask for leave from King Artaxerxes and made the long trip to Jerusalem, he had assembled a team of people to begin building the wall. And they were cooking with gas. Walls were going up. Jerusalem was being restored! Enter Nehemiah’s archenemies – Sanballat and Tobiah. To stop the rebuilding of the wall. They’ll just give up. Can they restore [it] by themselves?

Not all those who wander are lost." J.R.R. Tolkien. Monday, June 16, 2014. All of the tourist shops in Nepal sell playing cards, calendars, and postcards titled, "Faces of Nepal." Why? Just take a look. The people of Nepal are beautiful. These are just a few pictures from our Kid's Camp in Damauli. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Cow Just Slapped Me in the Face. The Wandering Watson's: Laterblog: "Sir, may I go to toilet?"

Not all those who wander are lost." J.R.R. Tolkien. Sunday, July 6, 2014. Laterblog: Sir, may I go to toilet? Well, this blog has been a long time coming, and it’s a long one. In Nepal, tutoring is referred to as “tution,” which completely threw us off at first! So here’s what a typical tution class looked like. The kiddos would arrive and stand at the door (shoes off) and would ask, “Sir, may I come in? 8221; Too bad they only know a few phrases in English and didn’t understand him (heehee). Obviously 1...

The Wandering Watson's: Our Most Difficult Day in Nepal
http://parkerashleywatson.blogspot.com/2014/07/our-final-night-in-nepal-was-probably.html
Not all those who wander are lost." J.R.R. Tolkien. Thursday, July 10, 2014. Our Most Difficult Day in Nepal. Our final night in Nepal was probably the hardest for me. In fact, I selfishly thought, “I could have done without this last night.” Why? I felt helpless, and broken. Usually it is a very simple, small room without a “bathroom” or shower. Before arriving we learned a little about the pastor from Gajendra. The church has been up and running for close to a year currently has ten believers/members, ...
