Jen's Ed Psych Blog: November 2008
http://jenedpsych.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Jen's Ed Psych Blog. Wednesday, November 12, 2008. On Monday night we had three parents from the community come and talk to us. All of the parents agreed that a second language should be taught at a young age. One of the parents said that they took a second language when they were in second grade. They think that knowing that language helped them when they took another language later in high school. They agreed that the language should be started at the second or third grade level. He gave us some of the...

Jen's Ed Psych Blog: No Child Left Behind
http://jenedpsych.blogspot.com/2010/03/no-child-left-behind.html
Jen's Ed Psych Blog. Friday, March 5, 2010. No Child Left Behind. Today in lecture we talked about No Child Left Behind. We addressed some of the background information. I feel that this is a touchy subject to talk about. Not everyone has the same views. The general goal of NCLB. For everyone to be proficient, is good. The way that they are going about this goal is not the best. I feel that there is too much testing taking place. I have heard teachers say that because of NCLB. I agree with you. I als...

Bethany's "Teacher-In-Training" Blog: Life Decisions
http://bethany-musiced.blogspot.com/2008/12/life-decisions.html
A blog capturing my thoughts as I begin my journey in becoming a music educator. :-). Thursday, December 4, 2008. They say college is a time to find yourself. A time to discover who you are and what you want to be. That's all well and good. But there seems to be a counteracting pressure to know exactly what you want to do with your life. right now. Choosing a major seems so overwhelming and final. Yet, does choosing a major necessarily mean choosing a career? December 11, 2008 at 2:06 PM. Believe In Your...

Jen's Ed Psych Blog: Chocolate Milk: better than no milk?
http://jenedpsych.blogspot.com/2010/04/chocolate-milk-better-than-no-milk.html
Jen's Ed Psych Blog. Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Chocolate Milk: better than no milk? Last week in class we talked about chocolate milk and the sugar content. Is all of this sugar really needed? We discussed what would happen if only white milk was served. Many thought that students would not drink it since it was plain. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Jen's Ed Psych Blog. Sunday, February 28, 2010. Learning to Change-Changing to Learn. Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? This is a great video! I think that setting up connections between teachers from different areas of the world could help improve teaching for everyone. Technology is such an important part of the world today, and schools need to catch up, like the video suggests. March 4, 2010 at 6:34 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A blog capturing my thoughts as I begin my journey in becoming a music educator. :-). Thursday, November 20, 2008. As we wrap up our book review project, I thought I would share a few fresh thoughts about the book. Our group read "Teacher Man" by Frank McCourt. It was an enjoyable piece of literature. McCourt has a unique style of writing which made me feel like I was sitting down having a cup of coffee with him while he told me of his experiences in life and in the classroom. Bethany's "Teacher-In-Training" Blog: Parents & Teachers
http://bethany-musiced.blogspot.com/2008/11/parents-teachers.html
A blog capturing my thoughts as I begin my journey in becoming a music educator. :-). Tuesday, November 11, 2008. During last night's seminar, we had the opportunity to talk with a panel of parents about their views on education. [Just as a side note, I would have been interested to talk with parents who were not. It was good to hear about the value parents place on communication between parents and teachers. This is another topic that makes me think, "There is so much. That goes into teaching! Thoughts ...

Jen's Ed Psych Blog: International Students
http://jenedpsych.blogspot.com/2010/03/international-students.html
Jen's Ed Psych Blog. Friday, March 12, 2010. Today we had two international students come in and talk about their school experiences where they live and their experiences at Luther. It was really interesting how their school experiences compared to my experiences. We have had way different experiences but we all ended up at Luther. I think this is interesting how they were way more disciplined than I was but were are at the same place. Is all the discipline really necessary? No Child Left Behind.
