Fresh Off The Frame

Fresh Off The Frame. Quality, Skill, Artistry. Monday, 10 August 2015. Working in a Series, with Katie Pasquini Masopust. Before Katie's class I was supposed to make an art quilt. It was to be the first in a series of related pieces. At the last minute, I still hadn't settled on an idea. Even if I'd had an idea, there hadn't been time to make a new piece while I was working on the Judge Certification Programme anyway. What to do? I needed to use an existing piece. I started by creating a background.

Fresh Off The Frame: August 2015

http://www.freshofftheframe.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Fresh Off The Frame. Quality, Skill, Artistry. Monday, 31 August 2015. For A Lovely Year of Finishes was to finish a top I'd begun in the springtime. I'm very pleased to report that it is pieced and ready to quilt! I think it will make a sweet baby quilt, don't you? Metro Rings top, ready to quilt. Ever had this happen? Sometimes when a quilt is squared up on the frame it refuses to lay flat. Client quilt, accurately pieced but slightly stretched. The difference is quite dramatic! Quick" custom quilting ...

Fresh Off The Frame. Quality, Skill, Artistry. Sunday, 2 August 2015. August Goal and A Fabric Treat! My goal this month is to finish piecing my Metro Rings. Quilt top. I started working on it in April, but have been too busy to touch it since. August promises to be relatively quiet, so I should have some piecing time. To make sure I don't get lazy, I'm linking up with A Lovely Year of Finishes. And Fiber of All Sorts. Secretly, I'm just making this so I can quilt it! In the meantime, if you missed them:.

Fresh Off The Frame: September 2014

http://www.freshofftheframe.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Fresh Off The Frame. Quality, Skill, Artistry. Tuesday, 30 September 2014. Dreaming up quilting to complement this quilt's whimsical features (without creating visual chaos) was a challenge! So was that sentence! Fresh off the frame! I strove for balance rather than symmetry when placing designs. Repeating filler and vein motifs kept things from getting too crazy. Wind fills the background around the frames.wild and blustery! Design. (I only used the right half, stretching it to fill the space.). At My Q...

Fresh Off The Frame: May 2015

http://www.freshofftheframe.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Fresh Off The Frame. Quality, Skill, Artistry. Tuesday, 26 May 2015. My client is not in love with her kaleidoscope (I know. Can you believe it? So didn't want me to spend too much time quilting it. Time for some "quick and dirty" custom work. Well, quick, anyway! My plan was to divide and conquer. Looking at the quilt from a distance I could see sections of piecing that looked like distinct shapes waiting to be filled. I started with the center star, working a curvy feather out to each tip. It was truly...

Pieces of My Heart: A Little Catch Up

http://piecesofmyheart-ladyquiltsalot.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-little-catch-up.html

Pieces of My Heart. Sunday, 9 August 2015. A Little Catch Up. Realized the other day that I finished this before vacation but forgot to share it with you. It is a wool wrap that I did take with me to Alaska and was happy to have it the chilly day we cruised Glacier Bay. It's the Yowza Weigh It Shawl 4. From Ravelry. I really enjoyed this knit, with lovely Miss Babs yarn in the Funny Papers colourway. Is also from Ravelry. Was a lovely surprise to come across this towards the end of the trail. Finally, fi...

http://piecesofmyheart-ladyquiltsalot.blogspot.com/2015/06/friday-finishes.html

Pieces of My Heart. Friday, 5 June 2015. I keep saying, if I didn't make bags, I would never have any finishes to show. This is the Aeroplane Bag from Sew Sweetness. While I was making it I kept thinking it was much larger than I expected, so she has been nicknamed Mary Poppins! She actually is going to be a nice size for exactly what her official name says, she is my new carry on bag for the trips we will be taking this summer. Chores first, sadly). http://piecesofmyheart-ladyquiltsalot.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-few-friday-finishes.html

Pieces of My Heart. Friday, 19 June 2015. A Few Friday Finishes. Miss Vera is just loving modelling the new bag I just finished. Yes, another new bag. I just cannot help myself! I have made this bag before and have really enjoyed it, it is a great hands free bag for travelling. AND my iPad fits in it! And here we have yet another pair of socks. This one is my first very flawed attempt at knitting two socks at a time. They are however, a good fit, are soft and comfy so I am calling it a win!

Pieces of My Heart: May 2015

http://piecesofmyheart-ladyquiltsalot.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Pieces of My Heart. Friday, 22 May 2015. The secret knitting project has been completed. And gifted to the new grandparents. First sweater in almost 30 years and probably only the 2nd or 3rd ever. Good to start small and work my way back up. While technically not a finish, and almost three months behind, all the hexies are complete and just need to be attached to the rosette. I think this may be my favourite so far but I hope to be working on Rosette four by next week! Linking up today with. So here we g...

Pieces of My Heart. Wednesday, 22 April 2015. Work in Progress Wednesday. Progress, seems to be my theme word so far this year, only one tote bag finished so far. So here we go with more progress! A secret knitting project, trying to branch out beyond, hats, socks and mitts. Slow steady progress on Rosette three, almost a full month behind now, but not too worried about it, just enjoying the process. This scrappy project continues to be the main focus of any machine time lately,. I realize now that I hav...
