Front Porch Fighter: Endless!!!
http://frontporchfighter.blogspot.com/2015/05/endless.html
Faith and Family Intersecting Community and Culture. Saturday, May 30, 2015. A recent trip to the bookstore and a poster for some book called Peanut Butter and Cupcake. Led Diane to remark that they just keep making books! It made us wonder how there could continue to be a market for these arrangements of words on paper. That being said, here are a few I have pulled off that stack to look at in the last few months:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Geologic time is Now. While...
Front Porch Fighter: January 2015
http://frontporchfighter.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Faith and Family Intersecting Community and Culture. Saturday, January 31, 2015. If you've kept up with us, I guess you know that we enjoy hiking. A couple of years ago, we met up with a good friend of ours in Denver and she took us on a gorgeous trail in the forested mountains. While on the trail, we ran into a couple that appeared to be in their early fifties, super fit looking, all decked out in their Patagonia. Outdoor gear and gleefully taking on the trail. There is too much nature! I recently share...
Front Porch Fighter: A Fistful of Feathers and the Bill of Rights
http://frontporchfighter.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-fistful-of-feathers-and-bill-of-rights.html
Faith and Family Intersecting Community and Culture. Saturday, June 6, 2015. A Fistful of Feathers and the Bill of Rights. The First Amendment to the Constitution starts off by saying, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.". Fortunately for the Feds, this doesn't seem to apply to the myriad of regulations that can be applied, at will, by the myriads of agencies that we have created. Take, for instance, the case of Robert Soto. So, w...
Front Porch Fighter: The Gospel According to Chuck
http://frontporchfighter.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-gospel-according-to-chuck.html
Faith and Family Intersecting Community and Culture. Monday, July 27, 2015. The Gospel According to Chuck. Gospel: literally, "Good News". Generally refers to the biblical message concerning the kingdom of God, Salvation and the Messiah. One of our favorite Television shows ever about a computer geek who turns secret agent after a computer database is planted in his head and a gorgeous CIA operative is sent to be his handler. Thanks to the wonders of Netflix. Chuck says to Sarah:. I-I just need you to kn...
Front Porch Fighter: Freedom?
http://frontporchfighter.blogspot.com/2015/04/freedom.html
Faith and Family Intersecting Community and Culture. Monday, April 20, 2015. We were recently shocked to learn that Aaron Hernandez, the football celebrity, would be receiving life imprisonment without possibility of parole after a conviction on a murder charge. In addition to his personal freedom, Hernandez sacrificed millions in contracts, endorsements and salaries. How could a guy that, literally, had it all, throw it away for a stupid angry act? Do we punish far too many people? Therefore, I think so...

HomeWord Bound: July 2010
http://home-wordbound.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 26, 2010. Tuesday, July 20, 2010. We travelled down to Anaheim this last weekend for our first family experience with Disneyland, and what a ride it was! The parking lot was not hard to get in and out of if you arrived early. There is a tram to the Resort from the parking lot that will allow for strollers not folded, but children may not ride in them. For sleeping children at the end of the day, the walk to the parking lot was about 10 minutes. TTFNta ta for now! Friday, July 9, 2010. Buy a ...

Friday, May 20, 2011. Yes, it has been four months or so since my last post. I simply could not keep up with this blog along with Ellie's update blog, and all of life in general. BUT it is on my to do list! In the next two weeks I hope to update on our homeschooling adventures and how our family is changing. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Handful of Fun. Love at First Sight! My life as a red-headed mom of boys. A New Kind of Mother's Day. On Columbus Day, our friends Juan and Amanda got married, and.
HomeWord Bound: December 2010

Wednesday, December 29, 2010. My personal mantra. Here we go! Buh bye 2010, hello 2011. What an exciting time! I am looking forward to having more time with my girls and to make my house a home. With all of Ellie's needs I wonder often if we made the right move to this house. We maybe should have moved somewhere with more space for things like chickens and a goat, and dirt to play in instead of plastic play structures. And then I think, really? Do I really want a GOAT? Not really. Actually not at all.

HomeWord Bound: The Need to Hyperventilate

Tuesday, October 19, 2010. The Need to Hyperventilate. If you could just keep reminding me that I am not the one in control and that I can only do what is humanly possible? My new last name has to be Brochovich. The second example is courtesy of corn. Elianna reacted off the charts to corn with her patch testing. And when the allergist pointed to it and suggested I try something else, I could only answer "there are none". NONE. Did you know that? Oh and by the way? October 19, 2010 at 8:57 PM. Sing, Spel...
HomeWord Bound: August 2010
http://home-wordbound.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Officially we are in week two. Or three maybe? This week I learned a valuable lesson. I often tell my families that I work with to remember that it is 'homeschool', not 'school at home'. Parents must go through a time of de-schooling themselves in order to effectively homeschool. I have had parents buy Bingo games for one child. I have had parents do circle time with one child. These things don't sound very fun to me! It was such a fun day! Thursday, August 5, 2010. I signed up ...

Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Fabric Softener - the UNnecessary expense. In my mission to save money and eliminate household chemicals I began to research fabric softeners, and this is what I found:. The more you use fabric softener, the more you need it. Now doesnt that just sound sneaky? It actually builds up in your clothing as a residue. The solution is to use white vinegar instead! 1/4 cup or less of plain white vinegar added to the rinse cycle of your washer. A few tips from my experiences:. Be still an...
HomeWord Bound: May 2010
http://home-wordbound.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 24, 2010. Last night we finished reading aloud the third book in the Laura Ingalls Wilder series, Farmer Boy. There is a chapter where they enjoy a very traditional Christmas dinner, and the fried apples and onions stuck out to Moriah (bleck). We agreed that when we finished the book we would have a "Farmer Boy Dinner", and discussed what we thought fried apples and onions might taste like. Ham (there was no way I was doing a whole pig on a platter, I don't care how Almanzo's family did it).

HomeWord Bound: June 2010

Wednesday, June 23, 2010. The Eye of the Storm. Our doctor reassures me that most outgrow this condition so I am trying desperately to not be overly dramatic, but the reality is that even if she does outgrow it, there will be years of trial and error, record keeping, and modification. It exhausts me to think of it! Thank you so much for your prayers and for those of you who have sent me a note of encouragement. It really has meant a lot to me. Monday, June 21, 2010. Who Would Have Thought. We love this o...

frontporchfeminism | where friends meet to get complicated
Where friends meet to get complicated. That’s just how hip hop is. As though ideas of culture talk, or assuming that things are the way they are because they wrote themselves long ago and therefore are unchanging and not subject to history, oppression, and outside influence, were legitimate for understanding hip hop culture and music. But now, even this past weekend when a friend puts on Lil Wayne’s latest album in my car,. So, right Lil Wayne’s lines. Do we blame him for saying sexist things? Hip Hop: B...

Faith and Family Intersecting Community and Culture. Monday, January 1, 2018. I grew up mostly in a small town. We were one of the larger towns for our area, but still, it was a little place where you knew everyone in school, you saw mostly the same people most of the time, you did business at the same places and, when things happened to someone, it affected everyone. It's just different here. We are busy. My first thought was, "I hope someone is around to help her.". So, I helped her push her car out of...
