Remembering | Comfortably Numb

13 January 2015 @ 22:15. To those good friends and acquaintences past, who drifted away over time; to those who vanished overnight, with no time to say goodbye; to those who passed beyond the dark veil into the eternal night beyond. To all of you, who made me who I am today; who stirred passions and debates; inspired dreams, intriqued, criticised, improved, and helped me explore. Fade, and Snowy; with whom I shared a dying golden era of damnation. Shinaku, Jiro; for the good times, short though they were.

Ugh | Comfortably Numb
http://furryhelix.co.uk/archives/476.php
17 March 2013 @ 21:02. Ugh" about sums it up. Haven't updated this in ages; running on a severe lack of arsed. In training as a light-vehicle mechanic - which means having to be up at 0500H M-Th so I can spend 2 hours on a bus to the training centre. Also doing driving lessons, every Friday, so. I shouldn't be relying on the bus for too long after I finish at the centre. (I would just like to note that the two fucking hour. Others due to, again, my inability to pull money out of my arse; or a lack of time.

Mayday, mayday! | Comfortably Numb
http://furryhelix.co.uk/archives/477.php
2 May 2013 @ 22:17. How the hell'd it get to May already? I've managed to complete my course, and am now just waiting on my final mark (and the resulting certificate); now I 'just' have to find a job somewhere, at one of the many garages locally. That's gonna be fun. Also, on a coding front, I managed to track down and fix a bug in Yankbucket. That caused all posts to get the default expiry time, no matter what was set. It also means it now has an hourly expiry option, for when a day is too long.

A Wild Certificate Appears! | Comfortably Numb
http://furryhelix.co.uk/archives/478.php
A Wild Certificate Appears! 12 June 2013 @ 13:01. I now hold in my hands a certificate proclaiming that I have been awarded an IMIAL Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles (VRQ). Now I just have to find work before I forget everything due to my brain turning to mush from boredom. Proudly powered by Klompen.

New Job! | Comfortably Numb
http://furryhelix.co.uk/archives/490.php
25 February 2015 @ 19:49. As of Monday, I'll be a welder/fabricator at Marshalls Spares & Service; which is going to mean long hours, including quite a few weekends. This shall be interesting. So most of the lights have gone back to the standard incandescents; with the exception of the side-lights and the side-repeaters for the indicators. New plan is to order a bunch of high-brightness LEDs from somewhere like Cree. Proudly powered by Klompen.

Another outburst, then silence again. | Comfortably Numb
http://furryhelix.co.uk/archives/472.php
Another outburst, then silence again. 10 July 2012 @ 18:03. Yup, still lousy at updating this damn thing. May as well make it a static page, for all the good running a script is doing. Anyway; the only things of any interest have been, in no particular order:. I've had two responses from all the applications for apprenticeships I've been sending out; both much further than I'm really happy with. I have an assessment to go to, that'll involve a 26-mile bike-ride, on the 16th. We're now fuzzi.es. We're sti...

Fifty Shades of Green | Comfortably Numb
http://furryhelix.co.uk/archives/489.php
Fifty Shades of Green. 23 February 2015 @ 20:16. Two days ago, a great disturbance was felt on the roads. Okay, a small - somewhat tatty - disturbance. It's green, boxy, and had a whopping 67 rampaging communist-remnant ("Made in Chechoslovakia") horsepower as new. It's a 1994 Škoda Favorit, in Caribbean/Sea green. And it's. Edit: There is one! It was just hidden under all the. That had built up, clinging to the oil that was drooling out of the leaking sump gasket. So I went down to the parts store, got ...

19 July 2012 @ 08:02. Since I keep feeling like I should really be adding more content to this blog-thing, I decided I should try to explain the why and wherefore of one of my projects-of-little-purpose. The project I've chosen, since I seem to be having fun with it, right now (That will probably change, when I start having to work on the boring bits of it, though.), is. A later post will go into the painfully gritty W Wfun of programming it! Interrupt. This is where the - as of this post, unimplemen...

Augh, Physics | Comfortably Numb
http://furryhelix.co.uk/archives/479.php
21 July 2013 @ 23:05. This is the first 'official' mention of some code I've been working on - in bits and pieces - for a while now; it's a rather dumb calculator for engine stuff. No, I don't really know what - if anything - it's good for. I'm getting values like `-059.8979128782034.34925709080.0665` for piston acceleration. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you're only allowed one decimal point in a number. That would end badly for everyone. Other than the aforementioned screwiness with...

Derp! | Comfortably Numb
http://furryhelix.co.uk/archives/483.php
9 December 2013 @ 21:44. Today's been an interesting day. Nearly got walloped on the head - twice - by three quarters of a tonne of steel; gained a bunch of new micro-cuts on my hands - cuts which later ended up being marinaded in kerosene, because I had to remove some paint; and choked myself on some rather horrible fumes. (Yellow, smelt absolutely dire, and made my lungs burn.). Proudly powered by Klompen.
