Wednesday, May 13, 2015. I just back from a road trip to Arizona with friends and fellow-artists, Anne McCoy and Kim Roberti. It was a wonderful and inspirational trip. If I hadn't been distracted by the beauty that surrounded us, I would have had the presence of mind to blog while there. Since that didn't happen, I will now try to fit ten days into one post. Our first night was spent in a hotel off of the Old Route 66. I didn't manage a photo. Near Gallup, NM. Standin' On A Corner in Winslow, Arizona.

Monday, November 24, 2014. It is wise advice to copy paintings of old masters in order to learn. Nicolai Fechin. Was/is an artist after my own heart. He died five months before I was born. How I would loved to have met him, but all that is left for me is to study what he left behind for us all. This is a study of Fechin's "Tonita". Friday, November 21, 2014. After the PowWow, we visited with many of the Native Americans whose photos we had taken. Learning about the dances and what they represent is very important to me. I want to honor them by letting them know they are much more than subject matter for my paintings. This particular dancer is of the Mandan tribe, which reside in North Dakota. 8" x 6", Oil on Board.
