A Mormon Theology Seminar. Genesis 3:6-7, The Moment (part 1). Guilt and Interrogation →. Genesis 3:6-7, The Moment (Part 2). March 7, 2013. Some further notes, on verse 7. There’s also a bit of a wordplay between them being naked. And the serpent being clever,. However, the words are derived from different roots, and while many point it the connection, none that I’ve seen have made anything significant of it. If no animals have died, whence the bone for needle, or tendon for string? Actually, in looking...

A Mormon Theology Seminar. Genesis 3:22-24 →. April 3, 2013. Alter renders these two verses as follows:. 20 And the human called his woman’s name Eve, for she was the mother of all that lives. 21 And the Lord God made skin coats for the human and his woman, and he clothed them. The NIV reads like this:. 20 Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all living. 21 And the Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. Some thoughts about the verses themselves:.

A Mormon Theology Seminar. April 12, 2013. Here is Alter’s translation of these final verses in the narrative:. Here is the NIV translation:. 1 First of all, I don’t know who designed the reading schedule and left so much material to cram into the final week. They should have planned ahead better. 2 “And the LORD God said . . . ”. 3 “The man has become like one of us . . . ”. If it just refers to Adam, why? Why does Eve get left aside? 4 “. . . has become . . .”. Meaning: is the most important thing here...

WHAT I'm thinking about. Just a place to journal what I'm learning as I read scripture or scripture-related things. April 17, 2015. I have been reading 2 Nephi 27 this week. I noticed something in verse 5 that I hadn’t caught before: so, God pours on the people deep sleep, “for” they have closed their eyes and rejected the prophets. Is that actually a merciful thing? At least, that is how I am inclined to read those situations. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to email (Opens in new window).

So what does it mean to say that there is a power to being godly, and why does that need to be manifest? Why isn’t it more obvious? And why can it only be manifest through the ordinances and the priesthood? Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to email (Opens in new window). And posted in Scripture Studies.
