Current Wines and Reviews. Being located at the end of a large gorge is important for quality wine production. During summer it gets the morning sun very early so ripening is long. Shelter from the damaging northwest winds increases metabolic activity and stops damage to fresh shoots and leaves. It has also meant soils have not been stripped of their finer particles. Gentle yet regular air movement moderates air temperatures and all but stops damaging frosts.

The close planting (3 times as many vines/Ha as the norm) encourages deeper rooting and wine of provenance. The lower trellis (half that of the norm) leads to more intense flavours. Very low crop levels per vine leads to ripe balanced fruit.

It was a very successful trip. We gained 5 new outlets in Wellington and at least 2 in Auckland. There was a surprising amount of interest for our rose.
