After that we drove back and took a half an hour break and then went on a two hour game drive through a very big and undisturbed area. It was extremely bumpy trip on a creaky old truck. Since then I have heard of the “Weet-bix Challenge” popular among college students here: trying to eat a plain Weet-bix biscuit in less than a minute with out the assistance of suikar, melk or liquid of anykind. I don’t think it can be done. Laquo; Day 2 of Easter week-end trip to western Namibia. On May 24, 2009 at 11:42 am.

124; Comments RSS. Day 2 of Easter week-end trip to western Namibia. Posted on April 29, 2009. It’s hard to believe but I think our second day took us to an even prettier place than first, probably my favorite place in Namibia yet, Naukluft Park. Steve expressing his wonder and awe of God’s creation. Abby and Max climbing the rocks and following the water upstream. You may not be able to see her, but Abby is sitting at the top of one of many waterfalls. On May 3, 2009 at 11:46 pm. Enter your comment here.

We became foster parents to two kittens. I named the girl, Eliza, and Max named the boy, Josay. In the picture Josay is draped over my lap and Eliza is sleeping against my arm. Josay has white paws, as you can see, and Eliza just has brown. Eliza is very energetic and love. Eliza has softer fur and likes to sit on my shoulder!

Bates' Adventures in Namibia: September 2009
http://batesinnamibia.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Bates' Adventures in Namibia. Wednesday, September 16, 2009. More on Driving in Namibia. Well, you all know how I feel about driving here since it was the topic of one of my first blog entries. It’s not just the fact that driving is done on the “wrong” side here that makes it difficult to adjust to; it’s all the various and sundry other crazy things that occur as well that contribute to my being a nervous wreck behind the wheel. Because there are zillions of taxis, they can't be avoided either. Please ta...

Bates' Adventures in Namibia. Monday, July 27, 2009. Gus Gets the Gold. All in all, I think he is pleased in retrospect that he spent a part of his break time doing “school work” while most of his classmates were vacationing. He has certainly racked up on the freebies that have been handed out at each level—t-shirts and the like. We’re not yet sure whether or not he’s qualified to attend the National Science Fair, but we’ll know shortly. Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Nando's Peri-Peri Chicken Jambalaya. I woke...

Nebraska to Namibia: from Sandhills to sand dunes. A little time to think, please. Over the Easter holiday break, our family had the good fortune to travel to northwest Namibia with a student from Polytechnic. His name is Uapii (pronounced, "Wahpee"), and he's a third-year student in agriculture. He invited us to get to know his homeland a bit better. For the time being, we will let our photos and captions (archived here). Just give us a little time to think. Thank you so much for allowing us to live vic...

http://namibiafulbright.blogspot.com/2009/09/dont-you-wish-you-had-one-of-these.html
Nebraska to Namibia: from Sandhills to sand dunes. Don’t you wish you had one of these? For the past 3-4 weeks, a little bird has been making the rounds of our kitchen floor every morning. We keep the door open almost constantly, and it seems that our buddy likes combing the floor for crumbs and such. We've named him Freddy Freeloader. Today, we nabbed him on tape. With apologies to Dr. Seuss, we offer the following. Don't you wish you had one of these? From the far reaches of Windhoek. It nests in a hole.

Nebraska to Namibia: from Sandhills to sand dunes. Held hostage by my own stupidity. Today's blog is a short story, with a happy ending. Keep asking for the nitty. What about the students that have class in our building? We have to give them a key, if we want to let them use the facilities. Our choice. Otherwise, they have to go to a different building. So, to set the stage for one of my most embarrassing moments, I had attended several pre. During the first week of classes, I was covering Plant Studies ...

But now that we are leaving I thought I would run through a just a few of the things I wish I had mentioned (and happen to have pictures of). There were many cool bugs. We saw – here are just a few:.
