Green Jean: shell

http://greenjeane.blogspot.com/2015/08/shell.html

One of my older trumpet snails has passed on- found the empty shell in the tank and my youngest wanted to have it. She's especially intrigued by the presence of other. Snail eggs stuck to its shell- from Mavis. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Photos and notes of an amateur gardener. Also my tank journal. Mother to two girls and one kitty cat. I like to read, draw, play scrabble and grow plants! I live on the East Coast but yearn for the great Pacific Northwest. View my complete profile.

Green Jean: April 2015

http://greenjeane.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

I've pinned down two babies that are hanging off the momma plant, into small pots with soil. When they've rooted, will cut the stem and free them. On top of my smaller aquarium, the older spider plant offspring has grown a lot. I don't know if it is extra happy due to the warmth and humidity from the aquarium, or would be just as healthy sited elsewhere. This handful of plants. Coleus cuttings into pots. I used an actual bonsai training method learned from books to spread the crown of my geranium "tree"&...

Green Jean: May 2015

http://greenjeane.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

I wasn't really expecting the ginger to grow back, but it did! Avocado has new baby leaves springing up where I cut it back several weeks ago. Nice rosy hue to them. The ambient light through aponogeton leaves this morning; took a few pictures. Then realized it looked even more striking viewed from the opposite end of the tank- with Buster here for scale and a punch of color. Starting to really enjoy my fish tank again. New in the tenner. For aquariums can cost up to $16! So that the changes are not too ...

Green Jean: June 2015

http://greenjeane.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

My coleus has never looked so big and beautiful. It's even larger than this now- I just moved it up into a bigger pot. (Cut the flower shoot off too). The rose out front has gotten eaten by caterpillars a lot- I picked off as many as I could (my kids like holding the "green worms") and then cut flowers to put inside for display. I wasn't expected the plant to respond like this- it grew some new foliage where I cut the stems when removing blooms. I have a new lilac shrub! Pepper plant looks very happy&#46...

Green Jean: I made a Thing

http://greenjeane.blogspot.com/2015/08/i-made-thing.html

I made a Thing. For my kuhlis- a little feeding station that (supposedly) only they can get into. Small food-grade plastic storage container upended, with the lip removed. It had three small gaps near the base- level with substrate floor when pushed in about an inch,. A hole on top to drop the food in, and smaller holes to allow current through. But the cherry barbs can smell that tempting food, and even if I already gave them their own portions they always want more. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

from the depths of chaos: not a bad morning...

http://fromthedepthsofchaos.blogspot.com/2010/09/not-bad-morning.html

From the depths of chaos. Thursday, September 9, 2010. Not a bad morning. 1 loaf of bread baking. 2 loads of laundry washed and hung. 4 quarts of fresh-from-the-garden tomatoes canned (yes, all by myself! 5 pages of "William Wilson" read (yeah, not terribly impressive, but I couldn't think of anything else I'd done 5 of.and somehow it just seemed like there should be a 5). You *know* you never remember those ideas later when you don't! For inspiring me.seriously, Chris- thank you! Woo hoo, you go girl!

from the depths of chaos: from garden to cupboard...

http://fromthedepthsofchaos.blogspot.com/2010/09/from-garden-to-cupboard.html

From the depths of chaos. Friday, September 3, 2010. From garden to cupboard. My wonderful mom came up Wednesday to give me a refresher course on canning. (It's been many a year. Since I've canned, that is. Not since my parents have visited.) We had a wonderful time all around.and I'm positively giddy with what I have to show for it. :D. Fresh picked from the garden. To the canner. Yep, that's my lovely mama. To the jars. Just five jars this time, but there's plenty more tomatoes to come. In the long run.

from the depths of chaos: sewing lessons

http://fromthedepthsofchaos.blogspot.com/2010/08/sewing-lessons.html

From the depths of chaos. Friday, August 27, 2010. Max As rough-and-tumble as they come. Sitting still doesn't come easy for this little guy. Everything must be taken apart to discover how it works. Or just destroyed for the sheer joy of it. Best little hugger around. Rarely forgets to thank you for even the littlest things. Loves to create.maybe to make up for all the destruction :p). A few weeks ago, he wanted to try his hand at sewing. And what did he want to sew? Well, a cat- of course. :). Striving ...

http://fromthedepthsofchaos.blogspot.com/2010/09/i-am-not-poutingi-am-not-poutingi-am.html

From the depths of chaos. Sunday, September 19, 2010. I am not pouting.I am not pouting.I am not pouting. YeahI am so full of it. I am pouting big time. :(. Yeah, you know that old saying- pride cometh before a fall. That's me. Oh yes, I was ever so pleased with myself. This is how I spent my Tuesday.and believe me, it took a big chunk of Tuesday! But in the end, I had five beautiful pints of applesauce made from apples from our very own tree. Oh yes, I was feeling proud! If I succeed, that is. In the lo...

http://fromthedepthsofchaos.blogspot.com/2010/09/and-cucumber-in-apple-tree.html

From the depths of chaos. Sunday, September 19, 2010. And a cucumber in an apple tree. Sorry I know, I am a complete dork.but that's what goes through my head whenever I see this ridiculous sight in our backyard. (And I don't even like that song! But come on, isn't this just bizarre looking? Okay, apologies for posting such a stupid thing for the lovely Heather's Saturday Farmers Market. Round-up. But it would have been just too depressing to link up my previous post. :(. Labels: in the garen. And I was ...

green notes: Planting

http://jvegnotes.blogspot.com/2008/07/planting.html

Plant edible legumes first in new garden space to improve soil. Then layer half-done compost over it? Consider peas, g beans. For ash rows or under kitchen window. Give green beans. Lots of room when you plant them- spaced out evenly. They grow healthier, produce more, and are easier to work around when picking beans.

intertwining technology and teaching | A novelist is, like all mortals, more fully at home on the surface of the present than in the ooze of the past. -Vladimir Nabokov

Intertwining technology and teaching. 124; Comments RSS. Repost: The Tip of the Iceburg. Posted on December 2, 2008. The Green Eye of Jealousy

The Green Eye of Jealousy. The Green Eye of Jealousy. From this day on the green eye of jealousy decorated Bonbon’s office wall and stared jealously at Bonbon. And Lüly grew another green nail. From this day on Bonbon did not show up again. Maybe he amused himself with the green eye of jealousy and had no need for a Lüly without nail. By e-mail he pleaded severe appendicitis but Lüly did not believe a single word. Bonbon planted a wet kiss onto Lüly’s greenish lips and disappeared. How could I" thought L...

Green Jean

Because there is no gardening yet but I feel antsy about it, I pay more attention to the tanks. these leaves of my newer (although several months old now) aponogeton capuronii has very brown margins, and mottled spots if you look close. I wondered if it was just some individual variation, but the young leaves that came up last week, are bright green all the way through- can just see them here in center-. The Mother crypt wendtii bronze is getting quite lush- and there's a shrimp on one leaf. When I took ...
