Coming to ASB for these kids is like commoners going to the queen's palace and getting to spend a few hours there running around. Most of these children are living in make shift structures and the only meal they eat is the lunch they get at One International. I couldn't wait to watch them. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sari you're not here. Mumblings from Mumbai. This is a blog of two Coloradans living, learning, and growing in India. Sunday, October 30, 2011. Diwali was this past week and with it the end of the festival season in India, as well as a week off for Greg. We finally made it to Ladakh, India’s most northern state, located in the rugged Himalayas. In order to get to Leh, there are two routes, by air or road. Luckily, Greg and I did fine acclimatizing. Hemis was located in a tucked-away valley, so we winded ...

Sari you're not here. Mumblings from Mumbai. This is a blog of two Coloradans living, learning, and growing in India. Saturday, February 26, 2011. We walked right up to the area that had chairs to sit on and Oanh talked our way into this seating area. I was so excited. I could see him, up close and personal! We were thinking of leaving after an hour since we couldn't understand anything, but then the question and answer portion started in English. It was music to my ears! Tuesday, February 15, 2011.

Sari you're not here. Mumblings from Mumbai. This is a blog of two Coloradans living, learning, and growing in India. Thursday, April 28, 2011. Earlier this week, I picked up my dress I had bought to wear at the Catholic wedding we are attending in Goa this weekend. (Though it is not a Hindu wedding, they are still expecting 800 people)! They are just amazing with use of space, since there isn't a lot and I can't imagine the for renting a space here in Mumbai. Saturday, April 23, 2011. Last weekend, I bo...

http://thewixsonsinindia.blogspot.com/2013/04/krusin-in-kerala.html
The Wixsons in India. Two music teachers from Minneapolis teaching at the American School of Bombay. Saturday, April 6, 2013. For our spring break, we were joined by Grandma and Grandpa Wixson and we ventured south to Kerala. It was a spectacular week full of great interactions with the locals, amazing seafood, and delightful bed and breakfast hosts. Fort Cochin is also famous for it's spice warehouses, particularly ginger and pepper. As we saw in Michael Wood's "The Story of India,". But, it was beautif...

The Wixsons in India. Two music teachers from Minneapolis teaching at the American School of Bombay. Sunday, October 21, 2012. Ganesh Takes Us to the Garba. Before we went, Ganesh's wife Gita gave us a traditional blessing with some of the strongest tikka paint we've had in 2 years in India - it's still on our foreheads after a shower and a good scrub this morning. The whole reason for this festival, nine nights in total, is to celebrate the Goddess Durga (pictured below). Several of the boys I was c...

Saturday, November 19, 2011. Halloween pics, finally. I've been chastised for not posting pictures of Jake's award winning costume yet ($25 WalMart gift certificate! So to satisfy the masses, here's a few. Laurie made the whole costume, to include the 500 lb barbell. Unfortunately, he promptly hid one of the black socks from us (we still haven't found it), so Navy blue had to substitute on Halloween. On the coffin from Dad's haunted house. Ma and Pa Tibboel. Monday, June 4, 2012. Jovonna and Jake at the zoo. Those earings are in pieces now, sadly. Time here is growing short, so I'd best get another entry in before we hit the road! Hawkeyes and farm animals. Jovonna and Jake went to the. Montgomery Moooseum. . . Where Jake decided on his life's calling. So, of course, I hope to keep the blog updated periodically (even if that period is bi-monthly) - lest Jake grow too much between sightings. Or lest I forget too much. Oh, and he keeps getting bigger - funny t...

Wednesday, September 11, 2013. A whole year . . . Better late than never? I think so, but where to even start talking about a year in the life of a 2-year old . . . Maybe with some pictures while the words get warmed up. All I want for Christmas is goldfish! Just a photo op. Not much skiing happened. Before a puppy distracted him. I think he looks about 5 years old in this pic. Still copping out for now, here's a draft blog from November interspersed with more, not necessarily related, pictures:. Suffere...

Monday, February 20, 2012. They Sew Up So Fast. An aside - his hair looks combed here. I have no idea how that happened. Also, his Nana Mimi is in town for a visit, which is fun for all of us. I haven't challenged her to my ritual losing game of Scrabble yet, as I'm trying to make ground on a research paper (procrastinating at the moment), but there may be time yet. To close with, a couple of cute kid shots. Enjoy! Pre-stitches - he loves bath time every night! The bike trailer box - he likes it much more.

Wednesday, August 1, 2012. We also got several visits in to Great Grandpa Tibboel. This relationship took a little warming up, but Jake eventually decided that Grandpa's lap was just fine; and that his wheelchair made for good climbing. Several strolls around the pond across from the nursing home made for good QT, but Jake far preferred eating the stale bread over throwing it to the ducks. The Butts cousins took good care of Jake. SE - Day 7 - Part One: The Javelina Incident. 1:00 am at our Willow Springs camp: we are snug in our tent when something. Stirs the little dogs. (The big dog remains happily deaf and asleep through all this.) We don't know what it is. A sound? Coyotes howling all around us all night, near and far? Scuffling in the underbrush? Whiff of nearby prey? We throw the dogs into the back of the truck into their kennel...
