Why you should hire me. From the Observation Deck. July 24, 2016. Nature’s mysteries and beauty. Posted by Grendel's Mother under Oregon. Oregon house of mystery. The last part of my wonderful trip to Oregon took me to one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen Crater Lake. I stayed in a very rustic cabin in the park area and then made my way to a mystery house which I’ll describe later. The visitor center had a nice video of the history and science of Crater Lake and the rangers were very helpful. S...

Why you should hire me. From the Observation Deck. August 4, 2015. Guess who Athens was named for? Posted by Grendel's Mother under Greece and Turkey. Walking the Streets of Athens. The streets didn’t match up with the maps but the shopkeepers were very helpful giving us directions and then inviting us into their shops. We were making our way up to the Plaka area. We bought our obligatory tourist stuff and gave some coins to some kids on the street who were playing bouzoukis. My parents were here 15 year...

Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Well, it's been another busy couple of weeks! I finished my shabby-chic quilt, gifted to my mother's sister who just turned 80. I bought several packets of precut triangles when we went to Keepsake Quilting this summer, and added a few more from my stash. And a niece has just given birth to a baby boy: hooray, an excuse to finally use those Oceanica panels! I found this blue bubbly batik in my LQS and practically swooned; I'm so glad it came out as I'd imagined! I finished a m...

Where we eat nothing with feet. We are a family of 3 humans, 4 dogs, 1 cat, and more than 60 chickens living in a suburban/rural corner of Massachusetts, often wishing we were on Nantucket. Hailing from Virginia, New York, and HengFeng (in Jiangxi Province, China), respectively, the three of us look at the world a little differently, but we're pretty much convinced it revolves around Li-Li. Grendel's Mother :: Collaborative Sculpture
We are a team of two established artists who work together under the name of Grendel’s Mother. This name was chosen out of sympathy with the female monster from the famous medieval tale Beowulf who is never given a name of her own. Grendel’s Mother strives to bring art that combines the monstrous and the playful into public forums. Our past projects have included collaborations with civic organizations, universities, museums and schools. As Grendel’s Mother we have brought the process of sculpture ...
