Raquo; It is What it is: Race Eve Edition. It is What it is: Race Eve Edition. April 10, 2015. So I’m racing tomorrow. The first race of 2015….the one that seemed so far away during the middle of a frigid and nasty winter. When I signed up back in January. Thankfully I don’t have to. These photos were taken yesterday, April 9th, after an overnight snowstorm dumped several inches of fresh powder everywhere. Good thing, because our yard was. Even Amelia is confused. Like it’s some sort of magical pot...

Recipes | Health On The Run

When I first started blogging, I occasionally wrote about my favorite vegetarian recipes. All of these are easy to make and use simple, readily available ingredients. However, I quickly realized that I’m actually pretty terrible about keeping a food blog. I love cooking, but rarely follow recipes…which makes writing them a bit difficult. There are many other websites and blogs out there that are excellent resources for vegetarian food. Stuffed Peanut Butter and Banana French Toast. At bottom of post).

Raquo; CHaD Hero Half Marathon Race Recap. CHaD Hero Half Marathon Race Recap. November 13, 2014. I have been terrible about race recaps. Unfortunate, since those are the most fun to write (and read! And since this is supposed to be a. Blog, you’d think I’d be jumping at the opportunity for content. Although my erratic blogging is a topic for another day, I suppose it’s not. A coincidence that of the last 4 races I’ve run, the only one that made it to the blog was the 5K where I ran a PR. Part of learnin...

February 18, 2016. I never meant to abandon this blog. Not truly. Even with the sporadic nature of my updates, I still liked knowing the site was here. Still entertained thoughts of writing regularly at some point. But life got a little bit crazy and. Stressful, and as time went on I found myself less willing to share the details. And that’s the thing about blogging — if you can’t share your life (even a small part of it), if you can’t be authentic. So where am I leaving you? So there you have it. Lots o...

8221;You have to wonder at times what you’re doing out there. Over the years, I’ve given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement.”. One thing that I love almost as much as running itself is reading the stories of other runners. How they got started in the sport, why they stuck with it, what it brings them, what they love and hate about it. So I started the Ode to Running Series. Your email addre...

Raquo; Making it Work. January 30, 2015. When I think about all the things I love most about running. That long list that makes me excited to get out the door waking up before 5:00 AM to run in place on a moving belt while staring out a dark window is not one of them. Picture from a rare morning when I actually got to run later than 5:00AM. Who would’ve thought, right? The one time it did not start because it was -15? The absolute worst.). Plus the reality is if I. I know this is not unique. That man...

Raquo; Half Marathon Unplugged 2015 Recap. Half Marathon Unplugged 2015 Recap. April 29, 2015. I’m sitting here with a generous glass of wine after a long day. Evan is traveling tonight, so you know what that means: it’s Race Recap time! Only two weeks late. Not so bad given my current track record, right? To be honest, I feel just a teeny bit sheepish after my last post. Whether I felt as fit or fitter as I had been back in October for the CHaD Half. I didn’t have the miles or the confidence. 1 It was a...

Raquo; Starting Again. January 14, 2015. In fact. I’m not sure you noticed or even gave this blog a second thought, but I did. Day after day of thinking about posting and wondering what to do with this place…my little corner of the internet. I found it unsettling to have it just hanging out there in space, unresolved. After all these years and all the changes, was it time to finally call it quits? What’s the point anyway? To share. How much of my little family’s life do I want to make public? Children an...
