Monday, February 24, 2014. What I Wish I Didn't Know About Reupholstering. Well, it happened. Finally. I finished those chairs. I started them. In August 2010, and sloooowly worked. On them over the years. I know: YEARS. This was a much bigger project than I anticipated (when is it not? Just so you have the complete picture, here's the before:. To help me retain sanity (and never reupholster a full chair/sofa again), I have compiled The List of What I Wish I Didn't Know About Reupholstering:. Funny story...

Hales & the Hacienda: March 2014

Monday, March 31, 2014. What's Bloomin' In The Snow. You've heard the old saying about March: In like a lion, out like a lamb. Ha This year, it's the reverse: the beginning of March was beautiful, but yesterday it snowed.and today it's cloudy and windy. Oh, spring, you fickle fiend. There are still plants blooming, though, even through the snow. Bless them. My apricot trees "popped":. My neighbor gave me these lovely violets, that just smell heavenly:. Wednesday, March 26, 2014. A better stardrift picture.

Monday, September 29, 2014. And Up It Goes! My two loyal readers (okay, there might be more of you) have both commented that there hasn't been any blog posting lately. So I feel I owe you all an explanation. In 2004, Doug and I started our first fixer-upper. We loved it, talked compulsively about it, and worked on it all the time. Even with a newborn and two small children, and with both of us working. Okay, I was only part-time, but still. Which is all well and good when writing a blog like this, right?

Monday, July 27, 2015. First Day of School: Boys 2015. Back to blogging.it has been a long time, but there are a few things I'd like to share. Mostly: back to school! Today the boys went back to school: Jack to 2nd grade, Roy to 5th (yes, I think he's officially Roy now). And, of course, I have to share pictures! Jack, he's not excited at all. His shirt says: "The Dark Side Made Me Do It." At least the teacher has fair warning! And just in case you're interested in "where is she writing now?

Hales & the Hacienda: May 2014
http://haleshacienda.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 29, 2014. What, it isn't Monday? Perhaps the week has gotten away from me. This is typical for the end-of-the-school-year madness. The last few weeks of school are always insane: graduations, field days, water days, last minute teacher gifts, you name it. Yikes. But school will be out next Friday, and I am glad. Of course, I won't be so glad later in the summer, but at this moment in time, I'm excited to not drive kids to and from school every day for a few weeks. I mean, Roy! Sitting right...

Thursday, October 31, 2013. And mama's a cripple. Yup, no walkin' with the kiddos tonight, I have to give out candy. This is actually my favorite part of Halloween, because I get to see all the cute costumes. And smile at the cute kids. Usually, though, Doug refuses to take out the kids. Instead, he stays home and refuses to open the door and give out candy. Rude, huh? Anyway, Halloween has brought some serious issues to our house. Namely, What Shall I Wear? Who is that masked man? Oh, it's Jack! And Bon...

Beckie realized she loved working on houses and gardening when she and her husband bought their first "fixer-upper" in Pennsylvania. She has been "staging" her subsequent homes ever since, and also working as a professional stager at times. She has also been a writer for about fifteen years, and putting the two together was an obvious choice for a blog. A mother of five (5! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Go to the Home Tour. Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Getting tired of these yet? I'm not.every time another kid goes to school, my house gets just a little bit cleaner. And I get a little more organized again. Crazy how the summer just throws me out of whack. So it's Bonnie's turn - eighth grade. How did that happen? This is still how I see her:. I guess she's a little bigger now. And she takes all my texting minutes.sigh, she's a teenager. Well, here's to a great year! Monday, August 25, 2014. Hope you have a great week! Collin...
