MEET THE CAN ARTISTS:. MARRIED ARTISANS KYLE JEPSEN AND CARI DARNER. ORCAS ISLAND, WA. This dynamic duo has been hand-crafting gorgeous, flame-cut tin can lanterns since 2010, at the Okanogan Barter Faire, where HOLEY CAN! Was born and the first lanterns for sale were made right on the spot. Between the two of them, they wear all the hats for the business, and several more in their careers as well!

OUR STORY: A CAN OF LOVE AND LIGHT. We began with a long-distance courtship for the first three-and-a-half years, during which we became acquainted largely through beautifully decorated letters. (Yes, email had been invented- we're not so old! Just really romantic.) These letters were sweetly written in colored markers, with hand drawn borders and pictures of the good life we hoped to soon live together on Orcas Island. Enter the tin cans!

No one ever said the life of an upcycler is glamorous! The labor of love that turns trash into treasure is dirty work. Lot of work goes into gathering our raw material from area sources, removing labels, glue and sharp edges, and then. several baths later. we finally get to the fun part: THE TORCH! The "burn" as we call it, is where the spark of imagination meets incredible patience, as each can is transformed free-hand into a brilliant new light.
