Peonies and Pistols: Baby crack
http://peonies-and-pistols.blogspot.com/2014/03/baby-crack.html
March 1, 2014. Baby crack is what Todd and I call these fruit and veggie pouches. We call them that because Rosie can't get enough. She wants them. She neeeeeds. Them She has to have them! The first time I saw these things, my friend's daughter was drinking one. I thought, why not just give your daughter a bite of whatever fruit was in the pouch? And you know what? I willingly toss one her way. Because she's freaking out for fruits. And she basically is. March 1, 2014 at 9:11 PM. She seems to love these&...

Peonies and Pistols: November 2012
http://peonies-and-pistols.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
November 6, 2012. First year anniversary weekend. Yesterday was mine and Todd's first year anniversary! I have to admit, sadly, with our first baby on the way neither of us had really thought too much about our anniversary. We've been pretty consumed with baby prep and not so much how we would celebrate. We had dinner at a fabulous restaurant in Cherry Creek, Denver called North. It serves modern Italian cuisine that is just de-lish! We both had the salmon filet with faro and it.was.perfect! We also atte...

Peonies and Pistols: Just Beet It
http://peonies-and-pistols.blogspot.com/2014/02/just-beet-it.html
February 17, 2014. Thankfully, so does Todd! We're pretty much on the same page when it comes to our likes and dislikes with food. Except he doesn't like yellow mustard and I don't know what planet he comes from. Beets, ESPECIALLY the pickled kind, are gross. Blood mixed in dirt. That is what I feel I may as well be eating when I taste a beet - which does not happen often. I opened up the recipe for an all natural Red Velvet Cake. I roasted the beets per the recipe, then pureed them and mixed them up.

Peonies and Pistols: August 2013
http://peonies-and-pistols.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
August 8, 2013. Everything But the Hummingbird. My friend Jonna got me this fun cookbook called "sugar, sugar" where every recipe has a story. They are all old fashioned recipes - things your grandma would make to take to a church picnic or fix when company was coming. I haven't made many things from it yet, but there is one cake I've made twice - and will likely keep making given the response I've received from it. Ingredients only slightly altered to reflect Bakerella's recipe). 3 cups all purpose flour.

Peonies and Pistols: February 2013

February 28, 2013. When we walked through our 1920s house before buying it, we asked the owner about the three large doorways into the dining, living and sun rooms. It looked as though there had once been French doors on each. You can see the dining and living room doorways here. The owner looked us straight in the eye and told us he wasn't sure what his dad had done with them. We were super disappointed someone would get rid of original French doors (what were they thinking? Todd and I flipped! Here's T...

Peonies and Pistols: May 2013
http://peonies-and-pistols.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
May 12, 2013. We have been sooooo cooped up. Nice weather is here and I think it's here to stay! What a gorgeous weekend we had! We have been able to spend some real, solid time outside. Sure, there have been walks, runs, a handful of nice days here and there, but this weekend was the start to some serious outdoor time. It's time she started learning about the great outdoors. Are you familiar with Sunbonnet Sue? The old quilt pattern? Here she is modeling her new, cute hat. Not to be outdone, here's Rigb...

Peonies and Pistols: October 2012
http://peonies-and-pistols.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
October 24, 2012. Fall fun - with two recipes. For the first time, as I understand anyway, Casper had a corn maze. It's a great story.this farming family is involved in FFA (Future Farmers of America for those who may not know) and they decided to create a corn maze, not just for the community's enjoyment, but to raise funds for the local FFA Alumni chapter as well as the Natrona County ARC. I have been dying to go! Look how cool it is - designed with Wyoming's bucking horse and rider! On our way in.

Peonies and Pistols: July 2013
http://peonies-and-pistols.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
July 31, 2013. So much, soooooo much has happened since my last post! We went to my old stomping grounds, Washington, D.C! Here are some highlights:. Sitting with mama in her old chair. Might we have a future press secretary in the works? Sitting in my old boss, Sen. Enzi's chair. On a tour of the Capitol building. Here we are in the Rotunda. We bought a new couch! Doesn't it look like it's always belonged here? We went to Wisconsin! And Rosie and her cousins in Omaha got to meet for the first time!
