Hagen Update: September 2014
http://sjhagen.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 21, 2014. The picture below shows one of the forms of livelihood for the Agta. They build a fire underneath a shelf, then put split coconut shells on the shelf to dry them out. They can then sell this smoke-dried coconut, which is used in pig feeds and to make oil. Posted by The Hagens. Tuesday, September 02, 2014. Steve and I both traveled to Bicol with them to visit a bunch of different areas so that they could get a good feel for the area and people. We spent time with each of our tr...

Hagen Update: July 2014
http://sjhagen.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 27, 2014. This summer has been a whirlwind of travel for our family. Since we moved to Manila in May, we have only been at home for a few days at a stretch, just long enough to do laundry and re-pack. While it has been an absolutely crazy couple of months, we are so thankful for all the things that God has done this summer. We were sure thankful for our 4-wheel drive vehicle on this trip! The kids did great, and we were so proud of them! I only pulled the camera out on the peaceful parts of ...

Hagen Update: Vacay time!
http://sjhagen.blogspot.com/2015/07/vacay-time.html
Wednesday, July 01, 2015. Our family enjoyed some vacation time a couple weeks ago. After our couple of days visiting Jen's siblings, we put the kids on a plane to an island in Indonesia (aren't there days you wished you could do the same with your kids? The camp is held at the foot of this volcano. The kids have made some life-long friends (really more like family! And the "hellos" are always so heart-warming. They enjoy playing lots of fun games. Acting like crazy people. And while the cats were away.

Monday, July 13, 2015. Those of you who know us, you know that this is our heartbeat, so this trip was such a blessing! Steve had the privilege of sharing his heart with them during the conference, and we are excited to see if God will provide opportunities for partnership in the future with the goal of equipping them to send out even more people than they are right now. He said to Steve:. Meanwhile, Mikayla headed off to the Himalayas last week! That's right, our "baby" girl is in the Himalayas!

Monday, May 25, 2015. This week is a big week here in the Hagen home. The kids are finishing their first year in "real" school, and we are so proud of all 3 of them and how they have adjusted to this new world. Ben is finishing 5th grade so will move up to Middle School with Zach next year. Zach is finishing grade 7, and Mikayla is finishing her freshman year. Ben was part of the elementary worship team, and their group led the elementary in worship for their final chapel. Ben has a great class! Zach, we...

Hagen Update: June 2014
http://sjhagen.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 26, 2014. We have meetings here this week; and last week, the kids were able to attend a great camp so Steve and I had the privilege of spending a few days together - just us - in Bali before our meetings. We found this great hotel with "swim-up" rooms. Our hotel wasn't right on the beach, but we just rented a little motor scooter for $5/day and went exploring to find some amazing beaches. We so enjoyed His beautiful creation. We also had a romantic dinner for two on the beach at sunset.

Hagen Update: October 2014
http://sjhagen.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Last week was the kids' fall break from school, so we headed down to Bicol. First, we enjoyed a couple days vacation with some friends at the wake board park. It was so fun to watch the kids riding again - and admittedly a lot of fun to watch our friends make some spectacular wipe-outs! To be fair, by the end of the time, several of them were riding quite well too. :) ). Zach was especially fun to watch as he was going crazy hitting the big obstacles and doing huge tricks.

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Ready, Set, Go! We outsiders will come in with a plan.and just try to drive straight from one road to the other, totally unaware that it would be a lot easier (safer) to drive a different route. They see things we don't because they know the people and place in ways we don't. We need to listen. Posted by The Hagens. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Hagen Update: Family Time
http://sjhagen.blogspot.com/2015/06/family-time.html
Tuesday, June 23, 2015. We are so blessed to have my (Jen's) siblings living in SE Asia! We had meetings in Indonesia the last couple weeks, so we stopped through to see them on our way there. While we were there, Steve celebrated his birthday. He's not big on cake, but these lamb satay were right up his alley. :). We got to spend his bday in a historic city a couple hours from where they live. We had a blast walking through the old streets together. We also enjoyed some activities like these funny bikes.

Hagen Update: February 2015
http://sjhagen.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2015. The past 6 months, we have been busy adjusting to life in the big city of Manila. To be honest, Manila has never been one of our favorite places - even to just pass through - so we were not exactly looking forward to living here. However, God has been so gracious, and our adjustment has gone fairly smoothly. (Thanks for praying! Steve has been traveling from here and going both north and south (though not at the same time!
