人的居住地。1793年吳沙的姪子吳化引率漳州、泉州兩籍人來此地開墾。當時，漳籍人開墾的地區，地名上都 冠上『結』字，泉籍人開墾的地區，都冠上『鬮』字。現在的員山鄉還有結頭份、三鬮二、大三鬮等地名。1812年，噶瑪蘭廳設治，宜蘭正式歸入清帝國版圖，此時，員山鄉有員山堡、溪州堡。1895年日治之始，員山改為員山庄，隸屬臺北州宜蘭郡管轄。戰後1946年正式設籍，定名為員山鄉，隸屬 臺北縣. 宜蘭區署。1950年宜蘭正式設縣，員山鄉劃入 宜蘭縣. 訂閱： 張貼留言 (Atom).
