Shesh in the Desh. September 29, 2007. Ok, so this is an epilogue. I’ve been back in Britain now almost three and a half weeks, which have been packed. I’ve got a job working for CAFOD. Which is great, my grandmother died, which is awful, and Tottenham are not quite playing to their full potential, which is ugly. The biggest difference is that everywhere is smoke free, which I don’t approve of at all – this. Responses to “Back in London”. Feed for this Entry. October 10, 2007 at 10:29 am. Meanwhile, at t...

Click on the thumbnails to see the big picture. Mum…. Me and Georgia. And Tom. I went to the Sundarbans jungle for New Year 2007, and have created this. Separate page for the photos. I went to see Bangladesh play India in their second One-Day International, on May 12th 2007. It was great! Here are the photos. My landlord’s place in Sylhet. I don’t get the colour either. Some scenes from my original stable in Sylhet. The road where I work. Scene from hamlet near Rajshahi. The fire escape from our flat.

Monday, December 18, 2006. Peer Educator Training Course. Last Friday I heaved a long sigh of relief as a training course that I’d organised for the peer educators came to an end. Looking back it was pretty successful but first I’ll have a little rant…. At this point I should add that many of them are brilliant, intelligent, enthusiastic and motivated young people who believe truly in challenging gender stereotypes, shout loudly about the benefits of condom use and work their socks off for little or no r...

Diaries from Chipata: Tanzania Trip
http://chipatadiaries.blogspot.com/2007/09/tanzania-trip.html
Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Two things I’ll definitely remember about our trip up to Tanzania: transport and food. We used almost every mode of transport you can think of – sleeper trains, minibuses, dalla dallas (riding in the back of a canter Zanzibar style), hitching on the back of a truck, bicycle taxis, taxis, coaches, ferries and a catamaran made out of mango tree and of course out own two feet. Anyway I won’t bore you all too much with the detail but here are a few pictures of the trip. Iringa tu...

Diaries from Chipata: Global Education
http://chipatadiaries.blogspot.com/2007/07/global-education.html
Monday, July 23, 2007. In contrast, Zambia is the land of straight legs. One of the veg markets in town is called the ‘ladies sitting with their legs stretched out’ market, (it does have a catchier Nyanja name that I can’t remember right now) our gardener bends from the waist to water the the plants and school children do indeed sit with their legs outstretched during story-time. Attached to one of the organisations I work for is a community school. In Zambia, primary education is. Chipata, Zambia, Zambia.

Saturday, January 20, 2007. Zambia - some random thoughts. Since arriving in Zambia over three months ago, Henry and I have had endless conversations and more than one disagreement over whether there really is any hope for Zambia? She sent the coordinator off to chase after the money, saying that if it wasn’t returned she would deduct it from his (the person who made the mistake’s) wages. The money was returned, everyone was paid the rightful amount and we all went back to work. Contrast this with anothe...
