The Itinerant Iconoclast: Book Review
http://itineranticonoclast.blogspot.com/2015/06/book-review.html
The observations (and ramblings) of a Real Person searching for the Real God in the Real World. Tuesday, June 30, 2015. This review originally appeared on the Alan's Eyes and Ears. By Thomas J. Craughwell. Hardcover. The cover promises to tell the stories of “cutthroats, crooks, trollops, con men and devil worshippers who became saints.”. Craughwell set out to present a readable, entertaining, and inspiring book of saint stories. And with those as his marching orders, I’d say he succeeded. View my comple...

The observations (and ramblings) of a Real Person searching for the Real God in the Real World. Sunday, February 08, 2015. NT Wright on Evil. Monotheism of any kind always faces a challenge in dealing with the fact of evil; particularly human evil, but also the sense that the whole creation is somehow infected with a sickness that thwarts the creator's purpose, which is that his glory and power should fill the whole world." - from "Paul and the Faithfulness of God". The Itinerant Iconoclast: Bruce Cockburn on Discovering the Mystics
http://itineranticonoclast.blogspot.com/2015/05/bruce-cockburn-on-discovering-mystics.html
The observations (and ramblings) of a Real Person searching for the Real God in the Real World. Monday, May 11, 2015. Bruce Cockburn on Discovering the Mystics. I discovered Tielhard de Chardin, the Jesuit priest/paleontologist whose writings defied Church doctrine, and behind him I found a trail of Christian mysticism I had not known existed, a strain so powerful that it had been strategically sidelined by mainstream church leaders whose temporal power was anchored in mythic history and rule-maikng".
The Itinerant Iconoclast: Terry Wardle on Compassion
http://itineranticonoclast.blogspot.com/2015/07/terry-wardle-on-compassion.html
The observations (and ramblings) of a Real Person searching for the Real God in the Real World. Friday, July 17, 2015. Terry Wardle on Compassion. How can a Christian turn a blind eye to a hurting world? To do so they must choose a path other than the one Jesus took in life. It is the only way. Jesus became human in order to better identify with the human experience. He walked with the broken, listened to their stories, saw them struggle in life, and heard the cry of their tender hearts.".

Saturday, 27 September 2008. The taste of Grace lingering long. Permeates my every song,. Making right where I've gone wrong,. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. Posted by Jack Brown. Friday, 26 September 2008. Don’t Be Discouraged. Citizen of Heaven, lend me your ear,. Why do you stand trembling in fear? Shining ...

With knife in your hand. Climb over others 'til at last you stand. On top of the pile where you can smile,. Grin, cackle, laugh, but all the while,. On the rest of the world as it rushes by. Others before they do you. Pick out the meat from the rest of the stew. Make your own rules, be nobodys' fool. No need to hide,.

Ways With Words: Just A Pair Of Shoes

Sunday, 26 July 2009. Just A Pair Of Shoes. Just a pair of shoes. Standing empty, still,. Waiting for the moment. To do the masters will. To take him where he needs to go. To ease the pounding pavements flow. Protect his feet so he will know. The comfort I can give. But if he chooses now to wear. Some other fancy, newer pair,. I’ll rest a while and not despair. Then when he uses me, I’ll live. Posted by Jack Brown. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A very warm welcome. Path Through The Wood.

Sunday, 26 July 2009. Path Through The Wood. A path through the wood, not easy to tread. Not all of those steps, are quite filled with dread. Round ev'ry corner a new scape to see,. Breath taking beauty, or dark and dreary. Whatever the scene I don't tread alone,. For God is The Way and He'll lead me Home. Though i choose the path, my step He'll guide,. In times of confusion in Him I'll hide. So stand tall you trees, grow thick you ferns. Cover up the path, whilst my heart yearns,. Posted by Jack Brown.

Awaiting the burst of Daffodils,. Snowdrops, Hyacinth, Crocus too,. Fillimg the air with scent anew? Who specified the snow and frost? Who causes the wind to blow? Tuesday, 30 June 2009. He heavens declare the glory of God;. The skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech;. Night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language. Where their voice is not heard. When noonday sunlight hits the terracotta. And the scent of fresh cut grass is in the air,. Mingled with the perfume of the flowers. As insects buzz around without a care. My heart is oh so full of adoration. For the one who spoke the Word,. Posted by Jack Brown.

Development work and faith. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. June 15, 2017. It’s five years to the day that we returned to live in Perth. I just realised this tonight. Five years ago, we arrived back here. The last few months, I have been aware in some new ways of the costs of living for so long in a place like Afghanistan. The signs have been there for a while, but it came to the fore late one night, as a heavy truck streamed down the hill past our home. Maybe 2am or 3am? July 29, 2016.
The Itinerant
Friday, June 30, 2006. Someone once suggested that I should take photographs of each visitor and put it up on a soft board with date of arrival/departure etc. I am seriously considering it now. Wasnt there a piece Ruskin Bond once wrote with echoes of similar sentiments? Maybe I should frame that and put it on the wall. Or this. Posted by Itineranting at 8:33 PM. Wednesday, August 03, 2005. Very often I stare. I stare out of the window. I stare at people. I stare at the computer screen. So I have spent a...
