Up to Speed: March 2015
http://uptospeed-suzanne.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Josua Tree National Park. To make our drive home more interesting, we took detour and drove through Joshua Tree National Park. It was just going dusk and the light was beautiful. My photos don't even come close to conveying how beautiful it was. I have always thought Joshua trees were cool. I hadn't been through here since I was a kid. It was fun. Hollywood and Homes of the Stars. Just across the street. There were some characters available for photo ops: for a price. Or maybe li...

Up to Speed: August 2014
http://uptospeed-suzanne.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 30, 2014. I am on the email list for the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. I get advance notice for various events there. I love this theatre. It is beautiful, over the top, old Hollywood. And there really aren't any bad seats. It is a more intimate venue than an arena or stadium type of place. So I recently bought tickets to see Jason Mraz there. It was an awesome concert in a beautiful place. Jason Mraz and Sara Bareilles Duet On Carole King's 'Beautiful' At Pantages. I was there for this!

Up to Speed: Telfair Art Museum
http://uptospeed-suzanne.blogspot.com/2015/07/telford-art-museum.html
Sunday, July 19, 2015. Almost have everything posted from vacation. We took a quick drive out to Tybee Island. The lighthouse was iconic. The community was more our idea of a beach town than Hilton head was. We enjoyed going through the Telfair art museum. It used to be the Telfair home and so there were a few rooms set up as they had been. Mary Telfair had started an amazing collection of art for a smaller city. Lots of photos of art ahead, bail if you aren't interested. Called Madonna of the fields.

Friday, September 26, 2014. More Dogs in Art. I am not sure why I feel compelled to do this, but I do. These are from the Genessee Country Museum, sporting life collection. I think it was because there was a dog in almost every picture. Or a fox. One is a fox. Parting Shots of Niagara Falls. Who owns this car? What are you doing here? How do you know each other? We got better at it as time went by and even practiced our answers before approaching. It was quite dramatic scenery, especially in relation to ...

Up to Speed: The Bonaventure Cemetary
http://uptospeed-suzanne.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-bonaventure-cemetary.html
Wednesday, July 1, 2015. The cemetery looks especially cool because of all the trees and drooping moss. It's very atmospheric. There are two entrance gates. The main one and the Jewish one. Above is a photo of the main one. There are a lot of photos in here, if you aren't interested you might want to bow out now. This is the kind of thing you don't see anymore that they are known for. These large statues. This is an angel laying a flower on a cross. They are really kind of cool. Johnny Mercer, the famous...

Up to Speed: Last Post from Georgia/South Carolina Trip
http://uptospeed-suzanne.blogspot.com/2015/07/last-post-from-georgiasouth-carolina.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Last Post from Georgia/South Carolina Trip. Just a few last pics. On our way from Savannah back to the Charleston airport, we made a few stops, besides cemetaries! We stopped at this old plantation. It was mostly a gift shop, but it had this awesome huge oak tree out front that had been planted more than 250 years ago. It was pretty amazing to think about it. And it was covered with all this moss and fern. They did have a bit of a display in one room. August 6, 2015 at 12:06 AM.

Up to Speed: Savannah: The City
http://uptospeed-suzanne.blogspot.com/2015/07/savannah-city.html
Wednesday, July 1, 2015. We spent the next several days in Savannah, Georgia. I left my camera at the Coastal Discovery Center on Hilton Head and didn't have it on our city tour in the morning. I took a few pics with my cell phone, but wasn't wild about them. I drove out later in the afternoon and retrieved my camera. Thank goodness they had kept it for me. Above is photo of the old Candler hospital. Georgia's first hospital built in 1803. The bride and her dad. This is the front of the Cotton Exchange o...

Up to Speed: November 2014
http://uptospeed-suzanne.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 1, 2014. I saw an article in the paper about a Serbian festival. Decided I needed to check it out. I invited Penny and Cecelia to come along. Penny said 'What's a Serb? The spectacular inside of St. Sava Church. I had seen the domes of this church in the past as I drove by on the 202 or 143. Views of Palm Sunday. The raising of Lazarus. In Serbian and English. Painting of Serb people. I had some of their grilled sausages. Accompanied by lively folk music. Pastries and cookies for sale.

Monday, May 25, 2015. Pink Ombre Baby Shower Cake. A friend asked me to make a cake for her daughter's baby shower. I made sure she knew she was dealing with a novice before I agreed. I hate to disappoint someone. They wanted a pink ombre cake. I decided to do a Strawberry cake with strawberry filling, to make the whole thing pink. Besides it sounded pretty tasty. The recipe starts with pureed strawberries. Here is what it looked like before it got it's crumb coat. Saturday, May 16, 2015. The local newsp...

Up to Speed: Snowbowl, Wupatki, Sunset Crater
http://uptospeed-suzanne.blogspot.com/2015/07/snowbowl-wupatki-sunset-crater.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Snowbowl, Wupatki, Sunset Crater. I've shared some of these photos on Facebook already. These are actually from two separate trips up to that area. First, I got Jeff out of town for a day trip to celebrate his birthday. We rode the chairlift at snowbowl and enjoyed some wonderful views. It was freezing on top of the mountain. A different day, I finally went to Wupatki. There are several different ruins in the area. They are really cool! And an Amphitheatre or maybe an extra larg...
