The 50th anniversary of 148 pounds of aluminum bursting through our atmosphere and brushing the boundary of heaven. Jingle Bell 5k x 2. December 15, 2014. I feel like I haven’t written about my races as frequently as I used to. It’s all for good reasons though! I’m enjoying living in Boulder SO much. Our neighbors are so awesome. Food trucks every Friday during the Summer and we recently had an “ugly Christmas sweater” party get together that was a blast! The winner of the ugliest sweater got a home made trophy constructed with barbie in an ugly sweater and a plaque with some congratulatory phrase. I did my warm-up an...

https://chitown2corunner.wordpress.com/2014/07/22/year-2-check-3

Year 2, Check! July 22, 2014. July 23, 2014. I decided to break my little rule of “only blog about races” so that I would have this post to look back on. Matt and I had such a wonderful weekend, I never want to forget it! Most of the weekend was kept a secret from me as Matt planned out the details only to reveal them to me moments before they happened. I knew we were going to the mountains and bringing our fur baby, Arthur, which was more than enough! Friday we hopped onto a trail called “Adams Fa...

Runners Roost Race Team. November 20, 2014. After almost a year of quality training and racing under my belt, I mustered up enough courage to apply to be on a race team. Runners Roost Race team. Matt has been running for them for about 2 years now. As a result, whenever I spectated for him or raced myself, Ifound myself surrounded by his Runners Roost teammates! It may sound very corny, but they really are a genuinely great group of people. 40th Annual Longmont Turkey Trot. Jingle Bell 5k x 2 →. There wa...

June 29, 2014. June 29, 2014. Given what happened after the Slacker Half Marathon last year, I decided to scale down to the 4 mile race this year. Plus, it’s closer to the types of races I’ve been training for (5k’s). Thank God that was the case! I feel like in running, you’re always one run away from an injury. It’s a constant battle to stay healthy. I’ve learned that over the last year (more than any other time) this is the most important part of preparing for a race. This race was the first race where...

40th Annual Longmont Turkey Trot. November 10, 2014. 10k is a very awkward distance for me. I may have said this before, but it resounded in my head as I was running this race. I couldn’t quite decide what kind of effort I should be exerting. It’s somewhere between that 5k “constantly uncomfortable” feeling and that half marathon “sort of relaxed but still uncomfortable” feeling. This must be a pretty great course if these types of runners were coming out. Mile 5 of Longmont Turkey Trot. As the I crossed...

5k’s and Stress Reduction! August 12, 2014. August 12, 2014. I’ve been terrible at updates lately, but this one will be brief because I want to share some great advice at the end! I ran the Monument Downhill 5k in Grand Junction, CO on June 26th. It was such a great race, however, it was extremely hot! I think my feet caught on fire at some points! This was my first time breaking 20 minutes in the 5k! Below is a summary. 10 Ways to Control Stress! 1) Take time to. What you have- be. 2) Avoid What If?

July 7, 2014. July 7, 2014. This week has been a roller coaster in training, to say the least! I’ve transitioned from the “interval workouts” phase to the “speed workouts” phase- who knew there were different phases to workouts (maybe everyone but me? Arthur enjoying being outside! I started off the week with a workout that Matt nicknamed the “Texas 200’s”. Yikes, Texans must be hard core, because these were not easy! Then later in the week, I truly felt like running was a chore! Scars on 45 concert!

Sunday, June 27, 2010. I am finally posting! It's only been 8 months! JC forgot the candles so he lit the gas stove and they sung to me. As I blew at the fire JC turned the stove off.
