J Meetze Studio/Common Threads: Tapestry Diary 2015 Update

http://jmeetzestudiocommonthreads.blogspot.com/2015/05/tapestry-diary-2015-update.html

J Meetze Studio/Common Threads. Where my art and fiber come together. Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Tapestry Diary 2015 Update. Tuesday May 12 was just as beautiful and I celebrated with a green tree. It is nice to have some vertical elements in this landscape inspired horizontally oriented tapestry. With the sunshine and cool breezes it was also possible to appreciate how clean and green everything around us has become. So many greens are always a challenge but it is a nice one to have. If you want to contac...

J Meetze Studio/Common Threads: April 2014

http://jmeetzestudiocommonthreads.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

J Meetze Studio/Common Threads. Where my art and fiber come together. Thursday, April 3, 2014. Happy Spring and welcome to my studio. We have been doing some work on the outside and I now have a designated warm weather spot for my morning coffee in the form of a new rocking chair. Never mind that we are under Tornado watch tonight, just another less welcome sign of Spring. Even though the benefits package is spare it is a very nice place to go to work everyday. I have been considering another larger tape...

J Meetze Studio/Common Threads. Where my art and fiber come together. Monday, January 19, 2015. Mid January and the Finishing Has Begun. Progress on the 2015 Tapestry Diary is coming along. Here is a photo from January 14th of the whole width. The string markers are there so that I can be sure the divisions for the days of January are spaced correctly. A detail through January 16th shows the days at the middle of the month and the red soumac that I am testing for the marker between the months. After trim...

J Meetze Studio/Common Threads. Where my art and fiber come together. Wednesday, June 25, 2014. June Shows and News. My friend Lynn took this photo of me working on the hands tapestry at the Yellow Rose show in Seguin, Texas. We had a great time there staying with friends and catching up with friends we had met before at this show. The enthusiasm of new Mirrix Loom owners is happily contagious and one of the reasons going to shows is fun and rejuvenating for me. The Kumihimo supplies were very popular at...

Ann i Am: August 2012

http://anniam.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

ANYTHING worth doing is worth OVERDOING I'm talking knitting here, sewing, bike riding, photography, eating, oh YEAH, chocolate and coffee. Who is Ann anyway? I'd rather ride my bike (the human-powered sort) than do just about anything else. BUT, I have sooooo many other things I like to do, there are hardly ever enough hours in the day to get everything done. View my complete profile. I Can Do Stuff Like THIS . . . The journey from busy professional to spiritual homemaker. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Cleaning out the cobwebs… or the joy of an unreflective surface! January 4, 2016. It is slightly ironic that i would create a blog called the ‘spiritual homemaker’ when i’m not really the biggest fan of housework. Heart Like a Wheel: Spinning and Fibre Arts as Meditation Practice. THE RAMBLINGS OF A DEVOTED FIBRE FANATIC. Study for Meditation Mat. Friday, 28 November 2014. So Bad It's Good: Beginners' Mind and a Sense of Play. Years ago, another art teacher, the most difficult, challenging instructor I have ever had, refused to allow me into his Figure Drawing classes. I was more than a little pissed off at that and told him so, because when I decide to study a subject,. Links to this post. Links to this post.

Heart Like a Wheel: Spinning and Fibre Arts as Meditation Practice. THE RAMBLINGS OF A DEVOTED FIBRE FANATIC. Study for Meditation Mat. Saturday, 1 August 2015. Badlands: Continuous Strand Tapestry Weaving. I finished weaving my Badlands sample last night. I'm pretty pleased with it at the moment. The colours are lovely and the spontaneous design worked out nicely. I can see things I wish I'd done differently and areas which could use improvement, but that's always the case, is it not? NololHowever, I do...

Sketching Around: January 2012

http://jmeetzestudio.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Wandering through life with a sketchbook in hand. Marina, Sequoyah Park. Sunday, January 1, 2012. Links to this post. Received a new iPad for Christmas and the first app I added was Brushes. This is my first painting done on iPad Brushes. It is so much fun! In fact the whole iPad makes me feel like a little kid with a box full of new toys and I just can't decide what to play next. Sketching Around: February 2014

http://jmeetzestudio.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Wandering through life with a sketchbook in hand. Marina, Sequoyah Park. Saturday, February 15, 2014. Catching up with the sketching today. This is the last sketch in the old Moleskine journal. I like the new Stillman and Birn but I miss things about the Moleskine. The search for perfection is elusive! We has just had another ice storm on top of the snow and this is the scene from my front door. Cold! Fountain pen and watercolor. A soft little sketch of Purrlie cat in colored pencil. Lately I have been m...

Wandering through life with a sketchbook in hand. Marina, Sequoyah Park. Friday, May 9, 2014. More Sketchbook Skool and Urban Sketching. The second assignment that week was to do a slow layered colored pencil drawing. Here is my sketch. I always think Pears look like people and that Golden Pear does remind me of a reclining figure! Our next assignment from Prashant was to paint the sky at different times of the day for the week. Fountain pen and watercolor. Then we walked across the street and did some s...

Wandering through life with a sketchbook in hand. Marina, Sequoyah Park. Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Out and About With My Sketchbooks. Here is a picture that includes the real paintbox just 3 x 4.5 inches and so nicely made. Here ia a photo where I was preparing the covers. I used a pvc glue (Miracle Muck) and then glued a nice paper on the inside. The two covers were left under weight over night. Here is a photo of the inside cover where I also placed an identification card. A photo of the torn edges,.

Sketching Around

Wandering through life with a sketchbook in hand. Marina, Sequoyah Park. Saturday, May 9, 2015. Spring Sketching and Travels Far and Near. I have taken several short trips this Spring and have been taking my sketchbooks with me and capturing a few images here and there. This one is from a house just across the street though with a lovely blooming tree in permanent pen and watercolor and is the first sketch in my Stillman and Birn Alpha 6" x 9" sketchbook. Here it is with my handmade sketchbook, 7"x 10", ...

J Meetze Studio/Common Threads

J Meetze Studio/Common Threads. Where my art and fiber come together. Friday, July 8, 2016. I took some photos of the amazing moon that night and observed it rising in the sky. Then I wove it the same evening in 2016 Time and Tide. That prompted me to consider weaving a moon tapestry. Since I need a sketch to take with me to the workshop with Aino Kajaneimi I will be taking in August at the ATA retreat I decided to work on it. I also have an older collage called Big Moon that I used as inspiration. May a...

It Figures

A Place to share my life drawing studies. Monday, May 18, 2015. Normally I would get to one or two life drawing sessions a week but in the past month or so I have been out of town three times and most of the recent sketches have been on location instead. I am getting ready to leave again for a Plein Air painting workshop in Eureka Springs but will get back to my life drawing upon returning in June. Most of my on location sketches are on my Sketching Around. Blog and include some figures this time as well.

My Thank You Letter. The Digital Nation Blog was definitely my favorite. At first, I didn’t want to watch the video, but once I started watching, I actually liked it a little. The video had a lot of valuable information and it helped me to further realize how much my generations relies on technology to run our lives. The video and the blog were both eye openers. I alwas read the comments that my peers left for me. I like feedback on my work, so comments made me happy! 7 years, 11 months ago. Of course no...
