JOAN'S LOOSE THREADS. Some of My Quilts. What I’ve been doing …. Or Not. March 18, 2014. Eagle Ranch Charity Quilts. This weekend, I finished quilting my 15th quilt top for our Guild Charity. How did this happen? There are several ladies in our guild that do long arming . It’s only the beginning of the year, how did I get so many? When this year started, 2014, my New Years resolution was to tackle all those UFO’s that I’ve been staring at for a few years. Only a few UFO’s. Our guild retreat Winter 2014.

JOAN'S LOOSE THREADS. Some of My Quilts. April 21, 2014. I started pulling plastic bins from below my sewing table. I’ve been storing some UFO’s in them to do “later”. I spent the last few months doing charity quilts, some for a children’s home, some for “Quilts for Kids” an organization that gives guilts to sick children in local hospitals and some quilting for battered women and children. So what have I decided? I have 3 steps to a “Quilt of Valor” quilt that is a mystery quilt. A scrap...You are comme...

Quilts And Other Stuff From Frances: April 2015
http://francesquilts.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Quilts And Other Stuff From Frances. Thursday, April 30, 2015. The results are in……. 8230;and we will NOT be trekking in May! The Representative from REI called this afternoon and said that they have decided to cancel all of their treks in May. While we are disappointed, we feel sure that this is the best decision for now. So, now we are trying to decide whether we are going to move the trip to the first two weeks in October, adding the time on to our already planned month in Bangalore, India. The earthq...
Quilts And Other Stuff From Frances: August 2015
http://francesquilts.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Quilts And Other Stuff From Frances. Monday, August 31, 2015. Our travel was fairly long and convoluted but everything worked well and we arrived in Bangalore with no problems. We had a slow start to the trip as our flight out of Atlanta was delayed by about two hours but since we had a 6 hour layover in Amsterdam, we were not too worried by it. We made friends with the flight attendants and were treated wonderfully during the flight. People kept telling us to go to the right but we couldn’t ever s...

Quilts And Other Stuff From Frances. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Windy, cold, wet, wild and fantastic! On Saturday there was a trip planned to a local Paramo which is a high treeless plateau found in South America. I was expecting something akin to the Mesas in New Mexico….I was WRONG! We boarded the buses at 6:20 and headed out into the countryside. There were two buses, each containing about 30 people. We started winding our way up the mountains, accompanied by lots of other cars, buses, trucks and moto...

Quilts And Other Stuff From Frances: June 2015
http://francesquilts.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Quilts And Other Stuff From Frances. Tuesday, June 30, 2015. I love living in a University town….there is always something fun to see! A while back, I shopped at a Pottery sale sponsored by one of the Art departments at the University of Georgia. It was so much fun to see all of their wonderful art and even more fun to pull out my credit card and make some purchases! The first thing that I found was this “garden gnome”……. Even better is that it was only $20! It looks great in my flower garden! The proble...

http://francesquilts.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-day-of-eating.html
Quilts And Other Stuff From Frances. Sunday, August 2, 2015. A day of eating! On Monday, Michael was scheduled to be in symposia all day, but he didn’t have to be there until 11:00, so we had a much enjoyed quiet start to our day, including breakfast on the 4th floor of our hotel. It has splendid views of the city and was a fun way to start our day. We walked/drove to a restaurant down the street and all sat out in the open air to enjoy our meal. I was completely lost! And finally the main course…. Micha...

Quilts And Other Stuff From Frances. Friday, July 31, 2015. In the air again…. On Sunday morning, we were due to fly to Armania for the last two weeks of our trip. We had been warned to leave early for the airport because there was a Half-Marathon that morning. It was called the Media Maraton Internacional de Bogota and had around 45,000 people involved in the events of the day. Our flight was delayed by about an hour but was a fairly easy trip. We enjoyed talking to the young man sitting next to us&...

Quilts And Other Stuff From Frances. Sunday, August 2, 2015. Transport….5 different ways in one day! This morning we were picked up by Katherine in her “little red taxi” and driven to the town of Salento which one of the first settlements in Quindio. We had been told that it was a beautiful city but weren’t really sure what to expect. The drive was magical as the mountains and coffee plantations expanded before us… . We passed various landmarks, including this giant cow marking a milk bar…. The jeeps her...

October 19th, 2016. I am currently facing a decision as to the direction I want my career to take, between a product management role with some coding, and a software development role. As the full release of the project is happening this week, decisions are being made about how the project should be handled in the future, and I need to decide where I would ideally like to fit in. Some of the questions I’m currently trying to answer:. Am I even capable of becoming a good developer? Is learning on the job a...
