UMass Journalism

Tuesday, December 9, 2008. What is online journalism? Online journalism is the ability to take some of the older lessons of reporting, writing, and editing into stories but with a quicker style. Online journalism isn't entirely writing anymore; it is also about the ability to post quick thoughts, take photos, some mastery of the internet, and the ability to navigate different online sources quickly. There is also the art of blogging, which is making a post that either tells news, gives an opinion, shares...

UMass Journalism: Great criticism of ESPN

http://journalism392.blogspot.com/2008/11/great-criticism-of-espn.html

Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Great criticism of ESPN. Any wanna be sports journalist should read Rick Telander's. Column about ESPN. It is about how ESPN is allowed to do whatever it wants because it hires so many columnists that nobody can challenge it and the only person who does is the Ombudsman, paid by ESPN. . It's a great read. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Live blog on Thanksgiving. Great criticism of ESPN. Chicago Tribune Photo Gallery. Can Obama fix the BCS? View my complete profile.

Thursday, November 27, 2008. Live blog on Thanksgiving. Here is a video of one of my younger cousins counting to 10 in Spanish after being a little shy at first. . 4:20 p.m: Strike that first phrase from my last post. Mom is starting to panic with 10 minutes before people arrive. My dad is stepping in by cutting the turkey as you will see in picture No. 3. People will be here shortly so I should probably be downstairs getting ready to greet people.  . Here is a link to my photo album. The Sun-Times owns ...

UMass Journalism: Amherst Life Blog

http://journalism392.blogspot.com/2008/10/amherst-life-blog.html

Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Since my town is most likely too snobby to have people blogging about it (same with the town next to me), I chose to write about the Amherst Life Blog. It's very informative on Amherst, although it hasn't been updated for awhile. The post mentions how more people are visiting Amherst and the restaurants are having more families visit. They say the town now has a diverse group of people going around the town and it's more people-friendly than previous years. At the boiling point.

My hometown has a blog? Well, sort of. The only other blog that I found for Hudson was a Hudson for Obama website. It's funny looking at this business blog's pictures. One of the local restaurants even has a picture of a hamburger up. Hudson, get on this! For my original videos, I decided I would include two of the few vi...

Andrea Murray Writing For The Web. Journalism 392 UMass Amherst. Thursday, November 20, 2008. Neutral Milk Hotel released. In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. One of the most highly regarded albums of the 1990's, 10 years ago. The album was a concept album based around the Holocaust. The band quickly dropped out of the spotlight following their most highly acclaimed release, never recording another album since. I would have killed to see Magnum live. It's a really good recording, and a beautiful song. Journey...

Andrea Murray Writing For The Web: Love Is A Mixtape

http://andreawebwriting.blogspot.com/2008/12/love-is-mixtape.html

Andrea Murray Writing For The Web. Journalism 392 UMass Amherst. Tuesday, December 2, 2008. Love Is A Mixtape. My friend Mike let me borrow a book of his called "Love Is A Mixtape" by Rob Sheffield recently. It was a short and sweet read, only took me about 2 weeks. The chapters were generally short and each started with the track listing of an actual mixtape of his, then he would reflect on that time in his life. I suggest this book to everyone! Katelyn's Blog: Tin in Congo

http://katelynhaggerty.blogspot.com/2008/11/tin-in-congo.html

Monday, November 17, 2008. When asked to find a slideshow, I searched many a website. The New York Times. Ended up winning the race for a great one, an audio slideshow called The Spoils: A Scramble for Tin in Congo. It is the saga of much of Africa's riches: unearthed by the poor, controlled by the strong and consumed by a world oblivious to its orgins.". This quote really hit me. How can the world be so oblivious to this? How come we don't know? How can we learn about these things? Can you see the water?

Saturday, November 29, 2008. Can you see the water? Tuesday, November 25, 2008. For websites in my area, I explored the NashuaTelegraph.com. Based out of Nashua, New Hampshire. This online site is an edition of The Telegraph, their daily printed newspaper. 8220;Nobody else was reported injured.” that were not to my liking. Nobody? The best thing they did on the site would probably be the latest updates column and the 7 Days tab, where you can check out the top news from the last seven days. It would ...

I’m Back | Mhands09's Weblog

https://mhands09.wordpress.com/2008/12/02/im-back

Just another WordPress.com weblog. December 2, 2008 – 12:08 am. I’m back to the world of blogging after a couple week absence due to an injured finger. I sliced two of my fingers down to the bone and cracked a few bones in my hand during some late-night horseplay, rendering my left hand useless, making it almost impossible to type. Fear not, the healing process is well on its way, nearing completion. The stitches are out, the splint is off, and I’m ready to return to action. Laquo; Lucic v Komisarek.

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Monthly Archives: November 2008. November 14, 2008 – 5:37 pm. These two have a history, and Thursday night, in the third period, Milan Lucic and Mike Komisarek squared off and settled their differences the old fashioned way. Finally, with the Bruins winning, 5-1, they engaged in battle. Lucic absolutely destroyed Komisarek, pumping his fists and urging on the sold out Boston crowd with boyish enthusiasm after the bout. Good Old fashioned Screw Job | Mhands09's Weblog

https://mhands09.wordpress.com/2008/12/04/good-old-fashioned-screw-job

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Good Old fashioned Screw Job. December 4, 2008 – 5:02 am. Tomorrow, my sports journalism class will be taking a field trip to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut. It’s a great opportunity; once again, the journalism department gets screwed. Each student is required to pay $35 for gas money and other transportation costs. Apparently, $350 is too steep a price to charge on the university credit card. Laquo; The Nitty Gritty on Kwanzaa. Blogging to Inspire Social Activism. March 20, 2017. Six PR Lessons Learned from Maddow Tax Return and ‘Leak’, Trump-Media Wars. Rachel Maddow’s much-hyped tweet about her Trump tax return ‘scoop’ is just the latest skirmish in an ongoing PR war from which she has emerged badly wounded. Even though she subsequently tweeted that the tax return was a 1040 from 2005, Maddow became a mockery all over social media, including among fellow journalists, and the butt of late-night TV jokes, damaging her own credi...
