http://flanaganschool.blogspot.com/2010/08/first-trip-out.html
My Home Became a School. Tuesday, August 24, 2010. We've got our first overnight school trip planned for this weekend. We've been studying the Native Americans who lived in Georgia for the last few days, and I decided we'd go to Etowah. In Cartersville Friday and Saturday. Prides itself on its gravy burger and the world's messiest chili dogs). My baby ready for her first day of school. My Home Became a School. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Home Became a School: An Experiment
http://flanaganschool.blogspot.com/2010/10/experiment.html
My Home Became a School. Friday, October 22, 2010. I have been falling asleep watching the last season of The West Wing lately, and coincidentally the kids have been asking a lot about politics and elections recently. So I decided I would see if they might enjoy the show as well. The characters are also extremely like-able and interesting, and I thought the kids would enjoy the dry humor as well. My Home Became a School: Home From Cartersville
http://flanaganschool.blogspot.com/2010/08/home-from-cartersville.html
My Home Became a School. Tuesday, August 31, 2010. We spent less than 36 hours on our trip, but we really packed in a lot of fun and learning in this short time. Rarely do our trips live up to my expectations, and there was a lot of anticipation by the kids. We didn't take many trips this summer, and I think we were all ready for some time away. Upon arrival Friday, we got our bearings and went to the Tellus Science Museum. Quinn poses beside a huge chunk of amethyst. Emma makes a friend. The museum has ...

My Home Became a School: Giant Camel Spiders, Red Ferns, and DDT

My Home Became a School. Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Giant Camel Spiders, Red Ferns, and DDT. We went to Hard Labor Creek on Saturday and found our first of the Georgia State Parks geocaches. The nature trail there is nice, and the kids enjoyed dinner at the Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle afterward. Black snake near the cache we found at Hard Labor. Jake also found this cool page. Later in the week, they're making mosaics, studying genetics, and maybe beginning to study music history.

My Home Became a School: Is This the Real Reason We're Doing This?
http://flanaganschool.blogspot.com/2010/09/is-this-real-reason-were-doing-this.html
My Home Became a School. Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Is This the Real Reason We're Doing This? We've had a busy couple of weeks here, and the kids have adjusted to the routine really nicely. You might have noticed that the kids haven't blogged every day like they did at the beginning of school. This is usually because we're pressed for time, but sometimes the kids just want to skip it and get busy on something. My Home Became a School. September 28, 2010 at 7:26 AM. My Home Became a School: Catching Up
http://flanaganschool.blogspot.com/2010/10/catching-up.html
My Home Became a School. Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Well, it's been a busy month (as you can probably tell from the lack of new blog posts), but it's been a good month. Here's a quick rundown on what we've been working on lately:. You can see Quinn's story on YouTube: Quinn's Story. Where I Live and Breathe". Alicea worked with the kids on this unit, and it went really well. She tied everything back to June Bug. And I think the kids enjoyed this a lot. Emma just completed an eight-week volleyball camp,...

My Home Became a School: Week Two Report Card
http://flanaganschool.blogspot.com/2010/08/week-two-report-card.html
My Home Became a School. Thursday, August 26, 2010. Week Two Report Card. It's ironic really that I'm giving myself a report card when my kids will never have to worry about this kind of formality, but I think it's a good idea to reflect on what we're doing and what we need to do better. The kids are writing on this same subject today, and I'll leave their self-evaluations to them. Instead, I want to write about what Alicea and I are doing. Emma peppering with friends.
