Poetry by Karen Glenn. A Good Day — a Poem about My Mother. A Fairy Tale Poem →. July 15, 2012. MUSLIMS AT THE BEACH. On the ferry to Langkawi, a Malay girl in jeans. Rides on deck, letting her head scarf slide. Down her hair until the wind takes it. On the island, a woman hikes up loose pants,. Kick-starts a scooter, head scarf flowing out. Below her helmet. In the beach cafe. A waitress, head wrapped in white, smiles wide,. Mixing mai-tais at the swim-up bar. She’s a black tent, an enormous crow,.

Poetry by Karen Glenn. A Poem about Grief →. A Fairy Tale Poem. July 22, 2012. Hansel and Gretel, betrayed by birds. Their trail markers eaten, made it home. At last, their faces smeared with cake,. The witch’s hallucinogenic icing. Still no one believed their story. Even their glad father figured. Later on, they wondered. If it was then they lost their way. Should they have stayed. In the dark gingerbread forest forever. Instead of coming home to homework,. School, chores and chopping wood? This is the ...

Metanoetic Poetics: Needle and Thread
http://metanoeticpoetics.blogspot.com/2011/11/i-found-button-i-sewed-last-night-on-my.html
Saturday, November 19, 2011. I found the button I sewed last night. On my coat in a dead woman's. Disused collection. Lost. From a sailor's jacket, it. Weighs anchor amid Incan. And Peruvian designs, and replaced. The wooden one I lost last winter. I'm not sure it's happy among such. Exotic simplicity, but it looks eccentric. And wool dress coats, and furs. And puffy down jackets on Fifth Ave. I liked sewing the button on. The needle. And thread left by the seamstress seemed. Strangely right to the job,.
angelique: Last laughter
http://angeliquecain.blogspot.com/2012/07/last-laughter.html
Tuesday, July 10, 2012. I don’t know what got into us, but thank god Mama wasn’t there. To see us laugh in the face of death and dare the old man to. Strike us dead. That laugh is a compass I wear in my hair. So I can find you again in the dark, and when I do our hearts. Clink back together and I’m a whole sister again. Just think. You said. Imagine this: My body is giving up every scrap of extra. Just to keep me alive so we can bother about my death and plan to. Go over to the dverse. When you speak or ...

I reside in Naples, Florida which continues to be an inspiration for my work. Thanks for having a look.

Night Shift | Poetry by Karen Glenn
Poetry by Karen Glenn. A Poem for Halloween. October 25, 2012. Hello, everyone,. I hope those of you in the valley will come to my free poetry reading this Monday,. Meanwhile, here is a Halloween poem for you all. As they age, old vampires start to soften. They seek out fewer victims. Even then, they steer. Toward the sick, the dying. They oversleep–often–. Delaying in their coffins well past moonrise. Here. And there, they pause to weep. They pocket. Shrinks to a flimsy craving. The oldest tourniquet.
