Happy October! | Allie in Africa
https://allieinafrica.wordpress.com/2010/10/05/happy-october
Life in Mukinge, Zambia. It sure doesn’t feel like October over here, though. It feels like Tennessee in July minus air conditioning. Which means we’ve been going to the pool pretty regularly! I’ve been taking a group of my 8. Graders once a week and then the kiddos around the house about once a week, too. Noone can swim, though, so I’m logging some major lifeguard hours! But while the heat’s been a great excuse to get to the pool, it does make it pretty tough to teach in the afternoons! This is Kim sayi...

Life in Mukinge, Zambia. Hopefully can put up pictures of the travels soon…until then! One of the classroom blocks at the school. This is for all the 8th and 9th grade classes. Entrance to Mukinge Girls. Mukinge scenery. Unfortunately, this will all soon be brown. Once the dry season starts we wont see rain again till November. But Ive enjoyed all the green while it lasted. In Kivuku, a nearby village a little ways from my house. Playing monopoly. Or playing with the money, at least. Our classroom, 8A.

Life in Mukinge, Zambia. Thought I’d practice some of recently acquired Kikaonde on you guys this morning. That actually means How have you got up? But turns out that’s how you say I’m leaving in Kaonde, even though it doesn’t quite translate in English. So, anyways, finding out little things like that has been interesting. Also, celebrated a wonderful 24. Alright, hoping to get some pictures up soon. Hope everyone’s doing well! On May 26, 2010 at 8:24 am Comments (3). Happy Birthday, Mom! Lukumo Widows ...

Life in Mukinge, Zambia. Here are a few pictures from September, so far! Some are just the kids playing around the house, but most are the passing out of the school shoes and Derick’s birthday party. Enjoy. LOVE y’all! This slideshow requires JavaScript. On September 19, 2010 at 1:49 pm Comments (1). Anyways, I’ve had a great last week of the school holiday. Nothing terribly exciting, but by far the most fun part was getting to. Pass out all the school shoes that had been sent over with my family! Was a ...

Life in Mukinge, Zambia. I’m keeping sunscreen on all the time, but the girls are intrigued by sunburns and enjoy tracking my progress in recovering from any burn. So at least we’re learning something from it. We’re also still going on pretty regular walks about 5:00 in the evening, when it starts cooling off a little bit. I wish I could explain how pretty it is here at that time. It really is just about perfect. As for school, things are a little hectic around there these days. The 12. And pray that we’...
