Adventures in West Africa. Adventures in the rainy season. August 14, 2012. I thought I had seen bad roads. Riding 7 hours from Makeni past Kamakwie during training was bad. Having to unload the poda-poda and walk up the hill so that the (empty) car could make it to the top was bad. Today’s ride topped them all! They made a down payment on a chicken (chick) most likely to raise to have more chicks and use it for meat rather than eggs. Maybe later they will have a coop built for egg-laying chickens. Adventures in West Africa. September 19 and 24th. October 22, 2011. Dan and I decided to leave Mokanji for the first time on our own, and we ended up in Bo. Bo is the second largest city in Sierra Leone, and even though it’s the second biggest city, we managed to see 8 other Peace Corps doing their weekend business in Bo today. Adventures in West Africa. It’s been a while…. Adventures in the rainy season. Why do we still call it summer? July 20, 2012. This last year was an interesting one, but it went really fast. It is strange to think that we have already been in Sierra Leone for a year. Next year Dan and I are already planning what we will do differently in teaching and how we can help out students try to pass their exams. Other than that there isn’t much else to do but read and hang out while it rains.
