Bringing Judo to the Community. Janice holds a 5th Dan black belt in Judo and is a 1st Dan black belt in Taiho Jutsu. She has a Cert. Ed. in teaching and is a qualified British Judo Association level three coach and practical examiner. Originally a member of Portsmouth Judo Club, her competiton coach was Dennis Penfold (7th Dan National Kata Examiner and former British International and European Silver medalist). Three year partnership between JUDOKNIGHT and Whitehaven Judo Club providing teaching of Judo (including judogis - handed back at the end of the lesson) free of charge to local schools and colleges. F rom September 2013 to August 2016, the following schools have benefitted from this programme, including evaluation. JUDOKNIGHT was founded in 2008 by Janice Knight, a former British International and Commonwealth champion, who had the vision to Bring Judo to the community, making it a mix of sport, fitness and fun for everyone. There are many benefits to playing Judo: it is popular in Physical Education and encourages good general fitness.
