Left of Ordinary

Contact me at leftofordinary at gmail dot com. Wednesday, May 26, 2010. It’s not the end of May unless we skid across the finish line battered, bruised, scraped up, sick as dogs, hopped up on antibiotics, chewed up, spit out, worn out and with a few embers glowing and smoking from our asses. This May has been no different. So, what have we been up to? School is almost done! Sunday, after a few doses of antibiotics, I was supposedly no longer contagious and could move on to the big honkin’ birthday ...

Left of Ordinary: October 2009

http://leftofordinary.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Contact me at leftofordinary at gmail dot com. Friday, October 30, 2009. It’s such a cliché when everyone says “oh, that’ll fall apart the minute the warranty is done.”. Well, that is a lie, it’s not the next minute, its’ 3 weeks later. He climbed up to see if the GFCI outlet in the cabinet over the stove needed to be reset, but that seemed to be ok. He unplugged the microwave and then plugged it back in, also to no avail. Gee, hmm… maybe I’m over dramatizing this. I pulled out the home warranty phone nu...

Left of Ordinary: Sears Really Does Care

http://leftofordinary.blogspot.com/2010/05/sears-really-does-care.html

Contact me at leftofordinary at gmail dot com. Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Sears Really Does Care. So, I did realize that I had something somewhat worth noting to write about. Just after I posted my complaint about my dying washer. Very promptly, as in less than a day later, I get an email seemingly from a real person with a real phone number. I pondered on this again for a few days and decide to call. Strangely enough, I get a real person right away and it really is the Sears Service department.

Left of Ordinary: August 2009

http://leftofordinary.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Contact me at leftofordinary at gmail dot com. Friday, August 28, 2009. Mouse, is a beautiful, intelligent and funny little girl, however, she also has a potty mouth that is making me C*R*A*Z*E*E right now. As in, “grounded-forever-if-you-don’t-cease-and-desist-immediately” kind of crazy. This has been going on for a number of months, but lately has been getting increasingly worse. So now, both girls are in their rooms. I’m bummed that our day came down to this. It escalates when she’s tired, if th...

Contact me at leftofordinary at gmail dot com. Friday, April 2, 2010. You Know You're Old When. It’s 80 F, 6:30 pm, the girls are swinging in the backyard after dinner…. Mom, I’m 5 and how much again? 5 and ¾. And pretty soon I’ll be 6. Will I celebrate my birthday at school when I’m in first grade? I don’t know. That’s cos you don’t REMEMBER because it was so LONG ago! How old are you again and when did you go to first grade? The Kids and Stuff. Thanks for the comment at Pretty Babies!

Left of Ordinary: July 2009

http://leftofordinary.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Contact me at leftofordinary at gmail dot com. Friday, July 31, 2009. There is a herd (heard . ahaha) of tap dancing elephants on the roof right now, who are threatening to fall through the cathedral ceiling of our bedroom at any minute. Ok, so not really. The bad news about the hail we had a few months ago, is that it destroyed some of my plants, which likely will not recover until next year. The good news is that it destroyed our roof. Good news you ask? Thursday, July 30, 2009. 15 years ago today, my ...

Sixty! Seriously?: More of the Same

http://sixtyseriously.blogspot.com/2009/10/more-of-same.html

The exploration of a personal journey while watching time fly. Friday, October 2, 2009. More of the Same. So here I am trying to sort out a design for a sweatshirt jacket. I've been going to make this for over a year now and I would like to have this to wear in Sunnyville. I think my biggest problem is that I don't have a jumping off point. I do have it laid out on my cutting table so I'm as close to starting this project as I've ever been. I'm sure it will come. I have been feeling very 'compressed' whi...

There I've put it out there. I hope I can release the knot in my gut and just go with the flow, let things happen and just be happy I've made it to 60. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sixty! Seriously?: BusyBee

http://sixtyseriously.blogspot.com/2009/09/busybee.html

The exploration of a personal journey while watching time fly. Thursday, September 10, 2009. In the kitchen. It did something weird a couple of months ago and it took my Betterhalf. So thank you Guardian Angel) and it is again running like a dream. For the suggestions sweetie) and I think I've figured out what I want to do for the framing and just need to get a little help to implement that part of the project. With September being here I am already anxious to plot out the garden for next year, and do so...

Operation Moderation: Day 1 and Day 2

http://operationmoderation.blogspot.com/2009/08/day-1-and-day-2.html

Sunday, August 2, 2009. Day 1 and Day 2. That’s the weight I’m at now. There it is, for all to see. It’s not a “bad” weight and I’m not “obese”. But I’m just over the max I should be for my height. And I know it. And I feel it. So, yesterday was supposed to be my first day. Despite not getting up early to walk after a night of horrible allergies that kept me up for 3 hours, I did walk before breakfast at a good pace for 30 minutes. Yesterday was a write off. Day 3, bring it on. View my complete profile.

Operation Moderation: Small meal or power snack

http://operationmoderation.blogspot.com/2009/08/small-meal-or-power-snack.html

Monday, August 3, 2009. Small meal or power snack. This has been a favourite of mine, since before I started with my new program. I've ressurected it because it's just so good. It works well especially when I'm hungry for more than an apple, but don't want to overeat. This makes a great as a breakfast too. I'd do 1 cup of yogurt if I was going to have this for breakfast. Usually as a snack, I only have a 1/2 cup. 1 cup mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries. whatever works). Book Reviews - ...

Operation Moderation: Sulking

http://operationmoderation.blogspot.com/2009/08/sulking.html

Monday, August 17, 2009. This was a really busy weekend, and I didn’t get a chance to post my update. I also didn’t “make” time. As of Saturday, I’ve gained 2 lbs. I’m 142. Insert major sulk here. (mature, I know) And anger and a smidgen of self disgust. All things that strike fear into my heart. I don’t want to go down this path. They are NOT looser. So, what is going on? I’m going to keep walking, keep working out and work on the salt/sweets/snacks this week and see what happens. She’s my hero) s...

Operation Moderation: Marginally derailed. Already.

http://operationmoderation.blogspot.com/2009/08/marginally-derailed-already.html

Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Marginally derailed. Already. Well, firstly, a meal plan really only works if you actually DEFROST the meat you’re supposed to cook with. However, my improvised back up turned out pretty well. So it was a pretty good save. So, tonight, I will not be walking. I’m going to sit on my butt for a bit, and then I’m going to go to bed early and hope that tomorrow is a better day. Labels: 2 steps back. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sunday, August 23, 2009. The Update Week 3. After my last sulky. Post, the rest of this week has gone pretty well. I’ve been eating much better, and feeling better as well. I’m on day 12 of my 14 day T-Tapp boot camp. I think I’m improving in my form and feeling like I’m getting a bit more out of it. As of yesterday, I’m back down to 141, so I’m down a pound. Sixty! Seriously?: Nanny, Banny Bo Banny

http://sixtyseriously.blogspot.com/2009/10/nanny-banny-bo-banny.html

The exploration of a personal journey while watching time fly. Thursday, October 15, 2009. Nanny, Banny Bo Banny. We have just come home from visiting the 'grands' in Midwestville. And 2 games of Shutes. And Ladders with my oldest granddaughter, there was an interesting game of 'restaurant waitress' played by myself and the 2 girls involving copious amounts of pretend coffee "just right, Nanna. Not hot". Where did all the other hours that ticked by go? Maybe it's enough to just BE the Nanna.

Operation Moderation: Book Reviews - Version 1

http://operationmoderation.blogspot.com/2009/08/book-reviews-version-1.html

Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Book Reviews - Version 1. So I promised book reviews, and book reviews you will get! I love the library and I love learning new things. Diet/fitness/excerise/food books always seem to draw my attention. The library is a great place to find some interesting books. I like having the option to preview something for free before committing financially. This round, I’ve found 2 very interesting books. The first one is Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes. By Dr Marie Savard. Again, I di...

Left of North – a blog about irregular migration facilitation

A blog about irregular migration facilitation. Ruby in the Transit Zone. In June, I hitchhiked from Athens to Berlin to write about the Balkan Route — the route that saw hundreds of thousands of refugees traveling north last year, but which this year has been progressively blockaded by militarized police and razor-wire border fences. My last post was about the “transit zone”. I don’t know how else to say it: Ruby doesn’t look like the other women at the camp. Tall, Afro-Carribean, dressed...8220;It&#8217...

Left of Nowhere

A place to speak sense, not politics. Monday, 25 June 2007. Please don’t try to have sex with me. That’s what 16-year-old Lydia Playfoot is very openly telling people through the medium of a small, silver ring. This shiny, innocuous circle has cause a huge amount of debate, and, no doubt, a huge amount of free publicity for The Silver Ring Thing. Are the school trying to say that they only value a child’s right to express their religion and religion alone? Are all other ideologies somehow unimportant?

Breaking News — with a Hammer. Obama to impose a national time-out chair with his speech on education. September 8, 2009. Posted by alysejoy in National. Obama’s Tuesday speech to children is already stirring up controversy among commentators who fear the propaganda could deliver an unheard of message for all of us. Ramblings of the BIGGEST exaggerator in the UNIVERSE. Please STEP ASIDE (It Could LITERALLY Save Your Life). January 13, 2016. Please STEP ASIDE (It Could LITERALLY Save Your Life). I think we can all agree that flying, especially when forced to mix with the likes inhabiting steerage, is not the most pleasant experience one could come up with. Surveys show it is often a close second behind prison rape. I imagine that is probably a little less pleasant. This is a statistical fact. I’M A VERY BUSY PERSON!
