There are 1400 species of vascular plants in the Bahamian Archipelago (Correll and Correll 1982 and Acevedo 2012). The Preserve now hosts 299 native species of vascular plants including 19 of the 89 endemic species known to occur in the islands (Freid et. al. 2014). Browse the links in the left hand column to get information on plants found at the Preserve. Many plant pages also have links to the herbarium specimens collected by the New York Botanical Gardens. This blog describes our oceanfront gardens and cottages in extensive tropical gardens on the Bahamian "out island" of Eleuthera. Sunday, February 24, 2013. Great Lizard Cuckoo Sighting. Here is his list for today. Note that "south pond refers to Calypso Pond (i.e. the pond south of our causeway) and north pond to the larger pond north of the causeway (not fully visible from Calypso).
