Take off, eh?: June 2006
http://canadianpoliticalstuff.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 30, 2006. I've made up my mind. I've settled on my first choice candidate for the Liberal leadership. It wasn't really a sudden decision; rather, it was one of those things that arrived at gradually. So who is it? It's the candidate that I feel has the knowledge, skills and experience that are vitally necessary for the next leader of the Liberal party to possess. Having said that (or not said in this case), I want to mention that while I feel that this choice is evident, it's doesn't mean th...

Take off, eh?: January 2006
http://canadianpoliticalstuff.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 30, 2006. That's Manley and McKenna both out of the Liberal leadership race; both were front runners with multi-region appeal. Is somebody going to start a pool on this or what? I'd be inclined to put my money on Ignatieff, but again, I don't know enough about the other contenders. The Bob Rae line is appealing to me personally, but that one definitely seems like a long shot (if it comes through though, I will cow-tow to Kingpengvin). I haven't heard any mention of Carolyn Bennett. Whatev...

Random Noise: An Open Letter to All Residents of Nunavut: Regarding the Illegal Nomination of Dennis Patterson as Senator for Nunavut
http://kyleselmes.blogspot.com/2009/09/open-letter-to-all-residents-of-nunavut.html
Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education." J.F.K. September 02, 2009. An Open Letter to All Residents of Nunavut: Regarding the Illegal Nomination of Dennis Patterson as Senator for Nunavut. Read the letter below and leave some comments or pass it along to those that need to read this. Prime Minister Harper seems to have completely ignored his legal obligation to nominate a Nunavummiut for this Senate appointment, and feels that no one in Nunavut is capable of representin...

Random Noise: It's Time for Conservatives to Show Respect and Honour
http://kyleselmes.blogspot.com/2009/09/its-time-for-conservatives-to-show.html
Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education." J.F.K. September 30, 2009. It's Time for Conservatives to Show Respect and Honour. Accountability and transparency are probably two of the most important facets of democracy. Without either of these democracy really isn't a system that is 'for the people, by the people'. Voting for and selecting our representatives that sit in parliament is only one part of the equation. It has to be a reciprocal relationship. Is this a surprise?

This story may seem small considering that the games' cost is well into the billions of dollars. However, given all the other issues which seem to indicate a lack of oversight, how can anyone be certain that this isn't just one symptom of many? Maybe MAYBE. This has something to do with contractual obligations and it's an issue with providing exclusiv...

Random Noise: 'The Want of Power Corrupts' OR 'Just Making a Random Appearance to Say I Told You So'

Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education." J.F.K. November 28, 2011. The Want of Power Corrupts' OR 'Just Making a Random Appearance to Say I Told You So'. I'm not going to stay very long. Nor am I going to at all dwell on the fact I haven't blogged in years or explain why. Not that anyone is asking. Or cares. I know I don't. However, I read this. From Mr. Kinsella today and realized that the point he's making is something I predicted. A long time ago. First it is necessa...

Random Noise: Nortel Situation is a Symptom of a Much Larger Problem

Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education." J.F.K. July 30, 2009. Nortel Situation is a Symptom of a Much Larger Problem. While the Nortel situation continues, I have just finished reading a section from John Ralston Saul's latest 'A Fair Country' that touches upon the problems that are being discussed and the (so-far) inaction of our federal government. And earlier this year Canada lost. One of the world's leading AID researchers to an American university. There is an obv...

Liberals and New Democrats together could unseat Harper - thestar.com. The rest of Byers' piece in the Toronto Star looks at the election reform issue, using this ceasefire as a way to draw attention to the issue. Politics in Canada is riding a downward spiral into disrespect and disrepair. It's less about ideas then it is char...

Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education." J.F.K. July 10, 2009. Latest Harper Gaffe Wreaks of Desperation. You can smell the stench all the way across the Atlantic. Soudas immediately wet himself and with his brain about to explode and forgetting he was only in his underwear, went running to Harper with the news. Likely person is Soudas but I'm sure they'll find another low-level staffer they can fire. The best quote Harper gave was,. I think it's an irresponsible sugges...
